5.0 out of 5 stars Loved It, October 13, 2009

This review is from: Tales for Delicious Girls (Paperback)
I LOVED "Tales for Delicious Girls" by Barbara Knobova. I plan on suggesting it as a book club read. The author does an amazing job creating this book. It is not a relationship advice book, well it kind of is, but the author relating her experiences with dating and relationships. We've all had bad dates, bad experiences and even ones that just make good stories. As you read through her novel, you will feel that you are sitting at a table, sipping coffee with your best friend sharing the weekend dating report. It was such a fun read. This book also makes the point that women must first be true to themselves. It is so easy to get down on ourselves after a bad dating experience. Knobova tells women not to change for a relationship, something many of us are guilty of. Thanks for the reminder Barbara! You make dating seem not so scary.

5.0 out of 5 stars A must have for every woman., October 7, 2009

"Tales for Delicious Girls" is a collection of short stories by Barbora Knobova. The stories are uplifting humorous tales of relationship woes. Like most women, she has experienced heart break and love loss. In this book she reminds women that they are their own best ally. Women should never allow themselves to be compromised to fit into the mold that someone else has designed for them.

I loved reading this book and have given it to my daughter to read. I have also recommended this one to all of my female family members. It is a must have for any woman's book collection.

5.0 out of 5 stars Please take a number., October 6, 2009

This review is from: Tales for Delicious Girls (Paperback)
Well, if you wanted to know the 5 "W's" in dating I would get his book written by Barbora Knobova. In "Tales for Delicious Girls" not only has she done it all she tells you all about it. Some of the stories are laughable, cry-able, and downright curable, but, it still doesn't keep you sworn off men completely.

Don't let Ms. Barbara Knobova scare you off because you can still believe that old comment your momma told you all through school ... "There's someone out there for you and you'll know it when you meet him". So she's had some oranges that turned into lemons. With each person she grew and was able to see that within herself and that is a positive thing.

I honestly believe that by writing this book, Ms. Knobova re-confirmed finding herself, and realized she wasn't so bad and it's not all her or him and for that "Bravo". It's a good book to pass along. There are lessons here to be learned and to realize that it's not always the women who try to change the man. Relationships are work good or bad and sometimes it takes longer for the bad ones to show their face or the good ones to be enjoyed. Either way both parties must remain true to themselves. Great book!

5.0 out of 5 stars To please or not to please..., September 28, 2009
This review is from: Tales for Delicious Girls (Paperback)
Barbora Knobova the author of "Tales for Delicious Girls" has done the one thing that all of us at one time or another has done and that's dated. The difference is she's been brave enough to write it done and tell it out loud for all to see and read. This is a book of not only one, but, many relationships that at the time worked and for one reason or another was ended when she realized the changes she would of had to make would of changed too much of herself. That's something as women we often do with the men we're with at the time. So the take away message would be to be true to yourself because there is someone out there for you. There are parts of this book that you relate to that and you remember too quickly how hard it was to go through it yourself even looking back. Be strong, be persistent, and be yourself and remember your girlfriends they'll always be there for you. This would be a fun book to have a group read and compare with your friends and remind yourselves of what not to do. Relationships are fun! Read this book and you'll see.

4.0 out of 5 stars Delish!, September 27, 2009
By
This review is from: Tales for Delicious Girls (Paperback)
Tales for Delicious Girls is an absolute little gem of a book!

I loved, loved reading this book - which I thought was inspiring and takes a different view - i.e. if YOU like yourself and if YOU are the best version of YOU - then stop trying to change yourself for other people or for the view of what society says you need to be.

This book actually encourages you to celebrate the real, lovable and true YOU that is the person that you are.

This book is delish! sweet and adorable. I felt as though I could conquer the world after I finished it. It was such a nice twist over the usual self-help books that are always telling me (us) that we need to improve, develop and grow.

Filled with tales to inspire the "delicious" girl inside us all, author Barbora Knobova
has created a unique pick me up for females of all ages in labeling all that is good inside of us as what makes us "delicious". Feeling down over a love lost? Maybe you're simply tired of having to change for everybody but yourself? The overwhelming message found within these pages is to discover what makes you "YOU" and go with it! If YOU are happy with yourself and YOU are being the best person you can be, then the world will see that best projected version of YOU with open eyes. The situation you are in or person you are with may just not be the perfect one for you! We've all had challenges to face, but that doesn't mean we shouldn't be true to ourselves to reach the outcome we dream of.

Share a laugh, share a smile.....share the side of you that the world needs to see. Don't settle on second best, find YOUR best and show the world just how "delicious" you really are!

5.0 out of 5 stars 'Tales' is a 'Delicious' Book, September 26, 2009

"Tales for Delicious Girls" is delightful -- I finished the whole book in less than a day. In it, Ms. Knobova compels all women to stand up for themselves and to indulge in life's pleasures. She does this wittily and encouragingly along with an amusing slightly-sarcastic flair that made this book addicting. She writes in such a way that female readers can relate to the characters she presents - it is easy to imagine yourself in the shoes of the narrator or one of her friends.

The only small issue I have however are some of the sweeping generalizations Ms. Knobova makes about all men; she tends to put them all into this one category and that bothered me a bit (because I do have guy friends who in no way fit into these very specific archetypes she illustrates in her book).

Overall, a fabulous must-read for any woman (and a great guide for men on how NOT to behave if you're in a relationship).

5.0 out of 5 stars "Men come and go, but the beagle stays", September 25, 2009
This review is from: Tales for Delicious Girls (Paperback)
Tales for Delicious Girls is a compilation of short essays written by Barbora Knobova meant to empower women of all ages. Ms. Knobova shares her personal experiences on her road to being her own best friend. These stories range from laugh out loud funny to introspective and insightful. The one thing all the stories have in common is the message to never settle and never compromise; you deserve the best life has to offer.

I could see so much of myself in Delicious Girls. What woman hasn't met a man who tries to take control, who can't commit, who is jealous of her success, who refuses to take responsibility, a man exactly like JB? For that matter, I am sure we all know at least one woman in our life like that as well, one that has to make herself feel better by making us feel worse.

Through the telling of her tales, Ms. Knobova sets out to show all women that it doesn't have to be this way. We don't have to give others power over ourselves. More importantly, we shouldn't give others power over us. We all deserve to be in relationships, both romances and friendships, that are based on mutual appreciation and respect and we should settle for nothing less. We should picture our real selves and not base our worth on what others think.

Tales for Delicious Girls is a must read for every woman; mother, daughter, sister, friend. Let's all join together in the sisterhood of Delicious Girls.

5.0 out of 5 stars "You Are Your Own Best Friend", September 25, 2009
By
This review is from: Tales for Delicious Girls (Paperback)
Tales for Delicious Girls by Barbora Knobova is a humorous, witty and interesting book. The author tells short stories about her experiences in life with men that are funny and interesting. She also is trying to get across her point that women should not give up their self worth and own identities once they start dating men. It is a book that all women should be able to relate to. How many times have we changed our look (clothes or hair) to please a man? We have even given up hobbies or pets or interests to fit into a man's world. The men may not have asked us to do it but we try to please so we sometimes do it on our own.

When you read the short stories you will probably find yourself laughing out loud. Many of the stories may remind you of a stituation you were in at some time in your life. You may not have found them funny at the time but a look back may change your mind. This book is written with humor and I am glad I read it. Give it a try.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Delicious Must Have, September 24, 2009
This review is from: Tales for Delicious Girls (Paperback)
Tales for Delicious Girls by Barbora Knobova is a fantastic book for any woman. The book gives inspirational thoughts on why we, as woman, must stick up for ourselves and learn to love ourselves. Two of my favorite paragraphs in the book are:

"Nevertheless, this chameleon syndrome implying "I
will be what you want me to be" probably affects only
women. If you know a man who, because of "the love of
his life", gives up his job, his family, his fat cat whose
hairs you are allergic to, and his disgusting high school
sneakers that are "as good as new", introduce him to me.
Introduce him to me and I will have him submitted to a
thorough psychological examination as an absurd
natural phenomenon."

"And that's the point. Why do women trim their sails
while men remain in their comfort zone? Why do we
push ourselves to the limit, live on our nerves, give up
our soul, our personality, the little things we love? Why
do we pretend, fake, lie blatantly to ourselves and on top
of that manage to become convinced that it's making us
happy? Why do we rigorously get rid of everything that
makes us unique? What for?"

I know so many women that have done this and I am guilty of it as well! Thankfully I am with the best man for me who I adoringly love. I can truly be myself and my husband loves me unconditionally ---there is no better feeling in the world than that.

The book shows different and interesting short stories on men and women that you will find yourself identifying with. The 'stories' are mainly the authors situations that are extremely well-written and thought out to help give you advice and show you that you need to love yourself.

I highly recommend this book to ALL women! The book will help you believe in yourself, all of your dreams and to love yourself---deliciously.
