Great game!!!!,

This review is from: Tales of Destiny 2 (Video Game)
I didn't think it was all that great at first because of the poor english voice actings, but once you really get into the game, it's no problem at all! The small faults wouldn't affect th game-play too deeply, and after all, fortunately, the voice acting gets better as you advance in the game. The voices do match the characters well, although.
Anyways, like I said, don't let the voices get to you, after all, it's an honest to goodness, excellent game!!! It's one of the most memorial ones I've played, even though I've been through many rpgs. Once you've completed the game, it'll have you thinking, "Why does it have to end!" Lol. The main plot is quite alright, although it wasn't one of the strong points of this game. The character developement and the events that take place within the whole main plot makes up for it big time though. Although to repeat again, the main plot isn't that bad anyways. The little morals and dialogues in the game are so touching. One of the strong points of this game.I found myself trying to stop tears when Meredy questions Reid what good memories really are. This game also brings a good point to discrimination. The characters are simply brilliant. You get to really understand them and they're great. The character developement is great. In fact, this was what motivated me to write this review even though I'm not that sort of person, really. You'd think a 15 year old would have better things to do. But I thought I really should to put in my compliments for this game. And yeah, the characters are simply lovable. The battle system is excellent. This game really sticks out from the rest of the rpgs how getting into battles can be also fun too, not like the others how you'd wish you could run away from all the annoying, boring battles. The voices in the battles aren't that bad, in fact, with the full awesome animation of swordsman techniques and spell casting for each character, simply excellent. The awesome battle music gets you going too. The graphics of this game was pretty satisfactory I guess. Even though it's 2-d, it's still beautiful. I don't get what people were complaining about. After all, animes are 2-d. the backrounds have a nice, crisp look to it in my opinion. The music wasn't that bad either. Even though the tunes weren't THAT catchy, it still has depth and feeling in it. It also has mood in it. I should know, I love music. Like Reid's hometown music, it has a homey, gentle feel to it. Oh yeah, and the battle music. Awesome. But not to be biased, I've played other rpgs too, and yeah, theirs isn't bad either. Still, the battle music for this game is GOOD. Oh yeah, and not to forget about the mini games. They are fun. The game developers sure know what fun is. I've found myself playing Meredy's dancing thing over and over, trying to continously beat my own record. Lol. The anime intro in this game was so cool!! It looks great. You should see it. Anyways, I think I'm done. Ps. A very memorial game. I recommend it. Even for rpg haters. The battles system is so much better!

Best RPG Ever!,
By "kitfu11" (Texas, USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Tales of Destiny 2 (Video Game)
This is the absoulute best RPG I have ever played. It has beautifful graphics and loveable characters. I love the characters because they are all so uniquie and quite funny at times, you begin feeling like you know them and how they would act in different situations. The battle style is one of the games best features. No time limit, you can place the characters in the order you want, and there are some really wicked combos you can pull off. Another great thing about the game is when you leave a town or even that world to go to another, when you revisit you usually find something new. The story is basically never ending and very realistic. The only thing about the game I didn't like was that the name of the game was changed from Tales of Eternia to Tales of Destiny II when it reached the states. If you love RPG then you definatley need to get this game. I also bought the stratagey guide to go with it and it helped a lot.

32-bit Transition of Great Series,
By
This review is from: Tales of Destiny 2 (Video Game)
The first of Tales series, Tales of Phantasia was such revolutionary RPG for SNES/SFC, it was pity not to make in US. When they introduced the second series, Tales of Destiny, with slightly tweaked Phantasia engine, there were no doubt that turned many gamers. This time, they got it right (well, mostly). I still can't forgive some bonehead at Namco for changing name from Eternia to Destiny II, but otherwise, this is fine RPG. Graphic has been improved to 32-bit level without losing its uniqueness. With bit of 16-bit simpleness, it distinguishes from others. Battle system is where this game shines. Improving its trademark single plane, full time (no timebar) battle system, battle is more enjoyable than other RPGs. While others might dismis this as simple button masher, it is not. It takes great reflex of 2-D fighting game, and bit of strategy before the battle to maximize effectiveness. For instance, assigning character's battle position, their battle method, and attack point increases your survival. Also, it doesn't hurt to point out that the first Tales was developed by Wolf Team (from Namco), which later defected to become tri-Ace (yes, the creator of Star Ocean series). It explains the similarities. Weakest part of this game is Music Score. They do their job, but also very forgetable. I've played more than 50 RPGs including every Final Fantasy series, Star Oceans, Chronos, Lunar, Grandias, Persona 2, Manas, Sagas, Phantasy Stars, but this is the only time I couldn't remember any tune while playing. If you can find one (I got lucky at local store), you should give it a try. However, if you are NOT RPG fan, I wouldn't recommend it.

This has been one of the best RPG games I've played. The game has a good mystery to start it off: who is this mysterious girl? The game has great characaters too. There are great ways to get across the map, like a ship or the Areialboard. In time if you go back to place you've been you might find something new!Ther are great techniques and spells.I especially like the summoning spells.I've already beaten the game once and I'm playing it again.I never get board of the game( thre's also something new the second time around). So have fun!

Very Good Game For anyone with a sense of Adventure,

This review is from: Tales of Destiny 2 (Video Game)
This game is Far by the Best Rpg made in 2d.The Linear Motion Battle System lets you Attack and Defend against enemies all you want so in short no more waiting for your turn to do a hit instead run up to your enemy and slice away to your satisfaction as much as you want! This game has Very good Summons and Lots of Spells to learn.Sadly most people say this game is 60+ hours but I have played this game all the way to the ending animation and it is 25-35 Hours long and it took me 34hrs. which includes level ups and side quests,When I said level up i mean I beat the game around level 76 and I took the time to get all the spells and summons! I even got Destiny Summon which calls out the heroes of the last game! This game is Chaos when you have a Multitap Though since this is 4-players.I recommend this to everyone and enjoy it! Personally I beat the first disc in 7 hours and the second disc in 16 Hours and 3rd disc took me around 5-6 hours and after that I fought Cless at the tournament and some dont know about Tales of Phantasia the actual first game and Cless is the Main Hero.well good Luck to you all cause this game is Fairly Easy with a good level of course!

It first blew me away by having voice acting, but it just got better. Having played Tales of Phantasia I had huge expectations for this battle system after having another game in between to get better but wow. This game made Phantasia hard to play because its so much faster. Probably the best on the PSone a must buy

Never Ending Destiny,

Well, In Japan, this game is galled tales of Eternai. It was only when it was brought state-side that the name changed to become Tales of Destiny II.Like its' previous installment, this game was released for the original Playstation video game console.
Graphics: Well, not so much different than the first game, this game also uses sprite graphics similar to the previous game. But, the quality has been upgraded. Characters are very expressive and are nice to get to know, as each one again has their own history and background, just like all the Tales series games have. The game has a couple of cutscenes, which make it stand out a little bit more for its time period. Game play: You have limited control over the characters, but you can make them walk, run, or jump how you want them to be able and do. This game uses the technique attacks. But, the TP will not replenish itself alone. You actually need to be able and use a gel to help you restore the TP. The main character this time, can use more than one main weapon. One of such weapons, would be a nice axe.Depending on your predicament, and what style of fighting you like, you can choose the weapon. A nice thing this time, is that you can and will be able to save your game in the middle of dungeons. Which, I personally found was a very nice and handy feature. Story: a nice Tales storyline. I will not spoil it here. It is the basic "save the world" again. Which almost all RPG games have now. But, at the time, it was something new and very fun and entertaining!

This game has an excellent storyline and battle system. If you can look over the horrible voice acting, than this is an excellent role-playing game. A must for RPG collectors
