5.0 out of 5 stars A Must For Old School Wrestling Fans, December 26, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Tales From A Dirt Road (Paperback)
Dutch Mantell is a great storyteller. This book is a must for any wrestling fan, especially for those of us who grew up in the 70s and 80s. When Dutch tells a story it is so real that you can actually place yourself there. The stories of the brutal travel schedules, time from families, etc. makes you realize how hard these guys worked, yet, were able to find some comical ways to kill the boredom. If you are or were a wrestling fan at one time, buy this book.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best Wrestling Book Ever, January 13, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Tales From A Dirt Road (Paperback)
To say that this is the best book written about wrestling would still underrate this book significantly. Dutch Mantell has managed to capture the feel of how wrestling used to be and how it has evolved over the years through his hilarious and touching stories. From Traveling with Iron Sheik and Sid to discussing Eddie Graham's death to stupid fans: Dutch covers it all. A must read for any wrestling fan.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Book of Road Stories (with a little wisdom), January 5, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Tales From A Dirt Road (Paperback)
First off, this book is a very entertaining read. Most of the book is full of great road stories and behind the scenes information about an industry that has always protected itself from the outside world. The book is also somewhat deep in places and really does a good job of showing the human side of pro wrestling and its many characters. The Eddie Graham chapter is strong story telling at its best. Plus, the stories involving all the southern towns and their fans makes this worth reading through more than once. Dutch's first book was very good, but this one is even better.
