Editorial Reviews

From Publishers Weekly

The authors of the syndicated column "Tales from the Front"which they describe as "just a place where people could share their tales of falling in love and falling out of love and starting all over again"here present a collection of letters from their readers. The trials (preponderant) and triumphs of singlehood are explored in witty, sometimes bittersweet vignettes about love affairs and courtship. In the singles scene depicted by the letter writers, who range in age from 13 to 87 and include the married as well as seekers, there is a high degree of angst. The authors assign soubriquets like Ms. Picky-Picky-Picky, Mr. Gotta Keep Moving On and the Telephone Answering Machine Junkie to the hapless performers in these mostly unromantic stories of "woe and Wow." First serial to Glamour.

From Library Journal

Romance, reality, and a few happy endings form the substance of this engaging book about the modern single life. This isn't for singles only, however; even people who are not presently part of the singles scene will recognize themselves and their friends and enjoy the humor and optimism with which the authors describe the good and bad times in the mating rituals of the 1980s. Much of the material has appeared in the authors' popular syndicated column of the same name, but the book is still a pleasant addition to public library collections. Hilma F. Cooper, Cheltenham Twp . Libs., Pa.
