About the Author
A journalism graduate of the University of South Carolina, Tom Price served as the sports information director for his alma mater from 1962 till his retirement at the end of 1992. Today, Price serves as a consultant and historian for the Gamecocks' athletic department. He also serves as the oficial scorer for the Gamecocks' home baseball games and a radio analyst for their away baseball games. Price was inducted into the College Sports Information Directors of America (COSIDA) Hall of Fame in 1981. Most recently, Price was elected to the University of South Carolina Athletic Hall of Fame in 2001. Price is the author of four books on Gamecocks sports history: The 1984 Gamecocks: Fire Ants & Black Magic (1985); A Century of Gamecocks: Memorable Football Moments (1995); A Century of Gamecocks: Memorable Basketball Moments (1996); and A Century of Gamecocks: Memorable Baseball Moments (1996).

This book is a must for Gamecock fans! Tom Price has used his years of experience as South Carolina's Sports Information Director to put together a collection of stories about the athletes, coaches, teams, and traditions that make a Gamecock proud. Everything from debunking the myth of the 'chicken curse' to how the Gamecock was chosen as the mascot.
