MY FAVORITE SOUNDTRACK OF ALL TIME!,
By russ (Atlanta, GA USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Tales From The Hood: The Soundtrack (Audio CD)
Alright, alright... you guys are probably wondering how an unknown little soundtrack gets a 5 star rating from me. Well it's because I've heard a lot of soundtracks and this is the most solid, track for track. It might not get 5 stars for best LP, but it is a great soundtrack, because you never know who's gonna be on a soundtrack or if they are going to go with the soundtrack or mesh well with the other artists on the disc. Well, these songs flow like a compilation of rappers on the same label would, and the songs are similar in a good way not a repetitive one. Good horror-core from no-namers and some great songs from big names.TRACK-BY-TRACK: 1: Let Me At Them: A great wu-tang song, not just a for a soundtrack but one of their top 20 best. 2: Face Mob: Probably the best on the CD and way better than "THE FIX". Check the bass line! 3: Tales from the Hood: Good lil' R&B/rab calaboration. The weakest song on the disc but its not bad, it's just not similar to the rest of the disc except for the theme. 4: Born II Die: Definitely a great song. My most played track, and one of Spice 1's top 5 songs. 5: Ol Dirty's Back: Where did he go? Mabye he should go back. The second slip up, but not a fall. Definitely if your a true o.d.b. fan. 6: Im Talkin To Myself: A great horror-core style song and from a no-namer:Grinch the mean One & ?(hear track). I like it. Spooky outro to the song. 7: Hood Got Me Feelin' the Pain: Not bad. From another no-namer, it will grow on you after a couple listens. Good lyrics. 8: One Less Nigga: Another golden single from a big name(M.C. Eiht) Great song. 9: From the Darkside: A solid hit for Rza and his side project if your a fan you will love it. 10:Death Represents My Hood: My favorite song from a no-namer and the best horror-core. Listen to the lyrics to this song 4 or 5 times. 11: Hot Ones Echo Thru The Ghetto: It's another big name straying away from the horror-core theme but i dont care.Good song. If you dont like it at first, this one will definitly grow on ya. 12: The Grave: Another no-namer with another nice song. Second best horror-core. Only 12 tracks because we all know a rap cd doesnt always have to use up the full 80 minutes. To many cd's are full of interludes and long outros and other crap because the producers think we need a slap full cd. WE DONT. Keep it quality. Oh ya guys, go buy it from this site if you want the cool cd cover and all the no-namers' names. Im sure its hard to find in stores. Great, great soundtrack.

loved the soundtrack but only 1 stood out the most!!!,
This review is from: Tales From The Hood: The Soundtrack (Audio CD)
When i first started watching this movie back in '95 i was completely drawn to not only the script but the soundtrack as well. I have to say whenever they played the slideshow of the kkk and all that other stuff ( which i didn't like because hey, im black) for some reason the song BORN TO DIE BY SPICE made me kept rewinding this part over and over again just to hear that song again. So that's the song that stood out the most and it went great with the scene, all the songs were great and edgy but Born 2 die just sold me completely!!

I forgot how good this CD is. There are a lot of rappers on here, mostly West Coast.
Can't really pick any stand out tracks, cuz the whole damn CD is good. I recommend this one for fans of gangsta rap, with a creepy, eerie Halloween type of feel.

Tales from the hood, the soundtrack has got some well known artists and some no-namers,and suprisingly the no-namers offer some really good music. The entire CD is great and really fits the movie well, and not to mention some of the HARDEST HITTING BASS i have EVER heard. "I'm Talkin to myself" by NME has an unreal bassline,as does FACEMOB, the facemob song has got to be one of the best songs i have ever heard period. IF you enjoy hardcore horrorcore rap with bass that will hit so hard it will hurt, than get this CD

THIS IS NOTHING SHORT OF A TREAT FOR ALL RAP FANS. SOME OF MY FAVORITE RAPPERS ARE ON THIS SOUNDTRACK SUCH AS, SPICE 1, MC EIHT, THE GRAVEDIGGAZ, THE CLICK, AND MORE. THE BEST SONGS ON THIS CD ARE SPICE 1'S ''BORN 2 DIE'', ODB'S ''OL DIRTY'S BACK'', FACE MOB'S TITLE SONG, MC EIHT'S ''ONE LESS N***A'', AND GRAVEDIGGAZ' ''FROM THE DARK SIDE''. THIS SOUNDTRACK IS JUST AS GOOD IF NOT BETTER THAN THE ''MENACE II SOCIETY'' SOUNDTRACK! MUCH OF THE BEST GANGSTA RAPPERS SHOW THEIR LYRICAL TALENT ON THIS SOUNDTRACK. EVERY RAP FAN OUT THERE MUST FIND AND BUY THIS SOUNDTRACK AS SOON AS POSSIBLE! THIS SOUNDTRACK WILL BE THE 1ST CD I PLAY ONCE I GET MY 1ST CAR.

Not ever hearing of this one of my old girlfriends had the CD and I listened to it one day about 4 years ago and I was surprised and took the CD for myself. It features some of the bigger names in rap (west, east and down south) at the time but a good amount of unknowns (and they still are) who make some good songs as well. It does have 1 or 2 skippable songs and 2 or 3 that are ok, but he other 6 or 7 are really good songs. The production really fits the title, as it has that horror theme to it. Recommended fora rap fans.
#1 - 10 (classic by Inspectah Deck) #2 - 8.5 (scarface & Facemob) #3 - 5 (Domino 0 R&B song) #4 - 8.5 (Spice 1) #5 - 5.5 (Ol Dirty Bastard {R.I.P.} & 12 O' Clock - ODB's rapping is horrible on this one) #6 - 7.5 (Grince & N-M-E) #7 - 8 (South central cartel f/ dawn green) #8 - 9.5 (great song by MC Eiht) #9 - 6 (Gravediggaz) #10 - 8 (bokie loc) #11 - 7 (Tha Click {E-40, B-Legit, D-Shot, Suga-T}) #12 - 6 (NGN) [...] |
