Jersey Devil in Fiction,
This review is from: Tales of the Jersey Devil (Paperback)
This book (a collection of thirteen short stories) will please anyone interested in The Jersey Devil, the legendary monster that haunts the Jersey Pine Barrens. Girard has clearly done his research and has created thirteen very good fictional stories based on the strange creature's legend and history. The stories cover all 200+ years of the Jersey Devil. The writing is top notch and, more to the point, features great story telling. Some scary stuff, some fun. Very imformative. Nice to finally see the Jersey Devil in fiction. Good read!

I really liked this book. As long as you recognize that it is written as FICTION - its stories, not real life things that happened - based upon many of the tales told down here in South Jersey. Having grown up in the Pine Barrens, and being taught the story of the Jersey Devil as a child in elementary school, I love reading new takes on the ledgends. My husband, on the other hand, hated this book because it was all stories rather than straight up recounts of the ledgends. Granted, this book wasn't as good as the original McCloy, but its a nice departure.

Tales of the Jersey Devil,
This review is from: Tales of the Jersey Devil (Paperback)
Very interesting, entertaining read. I never knew the history. I thought the Jersey Devil was just an NHL team mascot. A well told myth-legend with extraordinary historical links.
