This review is from: Tales from Lachmuirghan (Paperback)
I bought the book because I love Madeleine Oh and can't find much of her in print. This turned out to be an anthology - a mix of lovely writers taking the one subject, the Northern Scottish town of Lachuirghan and writing vignettes about it and it's legends. The town is a little like "Brigadoon" in that elements appear and disappear - but there are a few constants. Love in the form of gorgeous male ghosts and spirits to fulfill steamy, erotic sexual fantasies, which abound to heal lonely, curious and/or broken women. There's a library where a very, very old bookseller directs the customer to what he feels is needed for their situation - the need for love and answers to curiosity. There's a castle and a bakery and 3 inns which appears out of the mists, or don't - depending on the needs of each of the women. Sexy, gorgeous (are there any other kinds of heroic men in erotic fiction? Ghosts and spirits of the past and present. Wonderful characters abound, wonders never cease. Utterly unexpected, utterly charming and a most delicious read.
