Being named after one of the principle characters in the Mabinogion, I recieved this book for my first Christmas, and I have been fascinated with the Welsh myths ever since. The authors do a marvelous job of joining together the disjointed translations, making the stories ok for children without disney-fying them beyond hope. We used this book as part of my daughter's 5th-grade classical homeschool curriculum, per the recommendation found in The Latin-Centered Curriculum. I wanted to warn others that the subject matter, which includes rape, gender transformations and incest, is somewhat mature for fifth grade, and the illustrations are grapic and include a nude woman. Being named after one of the principle characters in the Mabinogion, I recieved this book for my first Christmas, and I have been fascinated with the Welsh myths ever since. The authors do a marvelous job of joining together the disjointed translations, making the stories ok for children without disney-fying them beyond hope. The wonder and strangeness remains, and the magic. It is a shame that it is out of print, but I would still definitely reccommend this book to anyone, adult or child. Margaret Jones's watercolors add to it immesurably. (...)
