The way that modern Blues/Jazz /Rock should sound...,

I was fortunate to hear this CD when it first came out, and LOVED it from the first! Warren recorded this approximately 14 mos. before the first rumblings of Gov't Mule were heard, and anyone who has any sense of musical appreciation could tell that he was going to be one of the underappreciated talents in Music today. The CD was released without much fanfare, but grew in poprlarity throughout the ranks of the Allman Brothers Band faithful quickly, and still remains one of my favorites to this day. The blend of Warren's tough, bluesy voice and the solid aggresive slide playing; coupled with the great musicianship of his backups created one of the best fusion recordings I've ever heard..I was lucky enough to see Warren perform the music live, and was just blown away! If you like great slide guitar, with a funky/bluesy twist, you will like this CD. Check it out.... I don't think you'll be disappointed!

A brilliant CD from a superb musician/guitarist. Great songs with inspirational lyrics that almost reach dylanesc depth and perception. Unlike one of the other reviewers, I find the depth of lyrics a bonus and not a minus. Warren also has one of the best voices in rock and delivers with great emotion and conviction. I wish he had played a bit ( even a lot ) more guitar as this CD contains some very choice solos and guitar work. This guy is world class, but doesn't show it enough on this CD. In every way this is a brilliant BLUES/ROCK CD from one very underrated singer/guitarists. More guitar would certainly have gained this CD 5 stars.

An intense display of musical integrity,

I believe this disc was released on the brink of Warren's departure from the famed Allman Bros. This disc shows a powerful side of Warren's unique capabilities to combine his powerful guitar playing with his soulful voice. An excellent example of what every blues based rock album should contain, feeling, emotion, and original self expression. This disc is a must have if you are a fan of well rounded guitar skills and powerful vocals. An added benefit of this disc is the presence of Chuck Lavell on Keyboards and the production.
