5.0 out of 5 stars Notes from the artist, October 28, 2008
Tales Out of Night School is the third album of jazz/soul-infused indie music from New York native Dan Ackerman, a former radio DJ turned journalist who has written for outlets including SPIN, Blender, The Hollywood Reporter, USA Today and CNET.

4.0 out of 5 stars Really good, December 22, 2008
The album wears its influences on its sleeves-Steely Dan, Weather Report and Ninja-Tune style electronica-but manages to make something bigger than the some of those things happen. Ackerman's voice can sound a bit thin and reedy at times, but the backing tracks and vocals are consistently great.

dan puts the funk back in it. then takes it out. then puts it back AGAIN. or something like that. Whatever he's doing, it's working.
