Book Description

June 28, 2004
Mankind is busy populating the stars, raising republics and oligarchies, dictatorships and anarchy. An unresolved mystery of a war a thousand years gone begins to unravel when a young smuggler crosses what appears to be an artifact from the war. Soon, a group of wildcat smugglers operating on the fringes of society, an underworld syndicate warlord, a general and a high government official are thrown together in a series of tales that test their very souls. In a ruthless struggle, each with their hand on the other’s throat, they will try to sort out the mystery left behind by the ancient war and its impending threat to humanity. Fifteen tales raking across time, a pattern interlacing unexpected fate, smooth desire, churning war, as mankind steps into the intergalactic ring. Winner take all.

5.0 out of 5 stars Matmandu's Review, November 8, 2005
This review is from: Tales from the Pandoran Age: Book One: Silurian World (Paperback)
I was on Amazon looking at science fiction when someone said "Hey, Buck. Why don't order that book?" So I thought "What the heck, it aint a lot of cabbage. Why not?" Well, I'm glad I did. The plot is varied and exciting, with quite a lot of detail on each page. But what was really impressive was how despite the variety of adventure, the author coherently ties in each chapter with the main theme which forms an integrated whole. All in all, a satisfying read from what seems to be an extremely talented author.

5.0 out of 5 stars A terrific ride!, January 6, 2005

D'Anthony really has something strong going here, and I hope that book 2 will be coming soon. The book has some real powerful moments, strong characters, but mostly it's enjoyable because it does what the best space operas always do, and what makes SF as a genre work. D'Anthony has created an internally consistent, fully-developed, alternate world, with the big scope of a wide view, and the small details of a tight focus. At the same time, he's using this world to examine and untangle some important themes in our own.

I enjoyed the way he used so many of the common motifs of SF, with his own unique twist on each one. I would say his strengths are dialogue and inventiveness--and I hope he'll continue to build on those in the future volumes.

I read my friend Dante's original manuscript years ago and was absolutely captivated by it. I am so pleased that it was finally published and can give a heartfelt congratulations to Dante for following through on his dream and I can hardly wait to read the final book!
