5.0 out of 5 stars A Unique, Enchanting Fantasy: You'll be Hooked!
Within the first few lines of this book, the narrator teases you a bit with this magical world that he has abandoned in pursuit for the technological world. However, in his old age, he decides to go to the magical woods again. This magical woods, called Tanglewood, was in need of his help. For this older man was a writer from the heart. 1.0 out of 5 stars waste of time
After all the glowing reviews I thought hmm this little narrative might be worth it. However, the premise (the writer has been given the task to relay the story of the fey) has been done before.
There is nothing interesting or unique about the characters. The story hasn't stayed with me. All in all a disappointment, and nothing a cup of blackberry tea could ever...

Within the first few lines of this book, the narrator teases you a bit with this magical world that he has abandoned in pursuit for the technological world. However, in his old age, he decides to go to the magical woods again. This magical woods, called Tanglewood, was in need of his help. For this older man was a writer from the heart. This is just what Tanglewood needed - someone to pen the stories of its past. The stories start off with a boy named Colin. Colin finds himself lured into Tanglewood and soon discovers that he has fey, fairy, blood within him. He shortly finds himself in trouble with some pixies and must embark on a journey for his freedom.

This story is beautifully written. The story is interesting and unique. Truly a great read. The book is also beautifully formatted. It would not surprise me if this book became a cherished tale like that of Eragon. My favorite line of the book says that if you cannot find magic in the world, you must find magic in yourself. So, whatever you do today, go find that magic within you.

5.0 out of 5 stars A magical read..., January 6, 2008

"Tales of Tanglewood" brought me the same type of enjoyment that I had when I was first introduced to Harry Potter. But it's definitely very different from that. It sets the stage for a great series of unique adventures that someone of any age can enjoy. Who hasn't imagined temporarily disappearing from the real world for a new adventure in a beautifully mysterious and magical land with wonderfully interesting people (or creatures) to mingle with along the way? I'm a fan of this new series and author! It's a nice escape to day dream about.

I really enjoyed this book, purchased as a gift for somebody else (she doesn't know yet...shhhhhh).

Definitely a lot of fun and a good beginning for what I hope is a successful series.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastically Magical -- A Must Read, August 31, 2009
The Tales of Tanglewood is at once charmingly sweet and deceptively complex. Adults and children will find this book accessible and will instantly disappear into it's pages. Reading Tanglewood brought alive the world of the fey and makes me look at the trees outside my house just a little differently now.

Wonderfully written by Scott Michael Kessman, cannot wait for more.

Scott Kessman weaves a charming story filled with magic and mayhem. If you enjoy fantasy based on Celtic folklore, you, like me, will love this book. Colin and his friends are great company to escape the real world with. I look forward to the second story and hope it becomes available soon.

5.0 out of 5 stars Open your imagination and meet the fey!, June 14, 2009
By
The Tales of Tanglewood --The Lon Dubh Whistle by Scott Kessman is a chronicle based on a fantasy many of us have had as children - the hope of seeing the fairy folk. Walking through the woods enjoying the sounds of nature with sunlight dancing off the leaves, and butterflies flitting among the trees is the moment we have all imagined the magic of fairyland and the creatures that reside there.

In this wonderful tale, a young boy finally gets his wish. Colin meets the elves, pixies, sprites, and brownies and finds his destiny. After falling for the devious temptation of the sprites, he takes on an adventure to capture the Lon Dubh Whistle. Will his mistake lead to war or salvation for the fey?

I loved The Tales of Tanglewood. It is a great escape, and a story that will touch the hearts of adults and fill the minds of children with its truth. I highly recommend this book to parents and grandparents who want to give the gift of imaginative adventure.

5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful Book, August 17, 2008

This book was much better then I thought. When I read the first 3 chapters online I knew I was hooked. I enjoyed it and have since passed it on to my 10 yr old granddaughter who is also enjoying it. So much so that we both have begun reading it to my 5 yr old grandson who is also amazed by this book. As you can see this book is a wonderful family book.
Now we are impatiently waiting for Scott's next book.
