Editorial Reviews

This melodic rock band from Florida has been holding strong in the top 30 music charts on MySpace and sold 10,000 copies of their self-released EP on the Warped Tour this summer without stepping on a single stage. They sold to kids in the parking lot and standing in line. Their debut breaks the cookie cutter mold set by MTV and the radio and brings listeners to a state of frenzy in an earth-shaking way. Look for them on tour this fall.

Being a connoisseur of good music, I look for bands that have some special to bring to the table. Standing in line at WArped TOur this summer I expected to hear a lot of new music. What I didn't expect was to have the highlight of my day standing in line at WArped TOur. Ever since then, I have listened to their ep multiple times. By far the best music I purchased all year. These guys bring triple-threat vocal harmonies, great guitar parts, and progressive style drumming. Each song on this ep is different. Lyics are amazing! Whether you've loved, lost, or been stepped on, this ep will speak to you!

Even if you're a new fan to Mayday Parade, you have to listen to "Tales Told By Dead Friends"! This 6 song ep will capture your heart. The first song, "Just Say You're Not Into It" will have you raising your hand, admitting that you can relate to the song, at the first lyric. From there, you move into "When I Get Home, You're So Dead," which is a track you can definitely rock out to, followed by the tear-jerking "One Man Drinking Games". After that, you come onto "Your Song" which will make you smile and is the perfect track to recover with after "One Man Drinking Games." Then you move into the popular "Three Cheers for Five Years". I can not describe how amazing that song is, you'll just have to listen to it. The ep closes with "The Last Something That Meant Anything" singing a sweeping and emotional farewell. With this ep, you can tell that from early on, Mayday Parade has always been a band that puts all of their energy and emotion into their music. Each lyric is so beautiful and relateable, and the music that accompanies it, both vocal and instrumental, is powerful and you can feel it inside of you.

You may be hesitating on buying this because there is only six songs, but I highly recommend "Tales Told By Dead Friends as these six songs are so wonderful, that they pretty much equate to three normal songs each, so really, it's like you're getting 18 songs because they are that good.

Being a connoisseur of dual vocal music (Taking Back Sunday, Just Surrender, Hidden in Plain View), I can say that this cd makes fights out for the top of my list.

MUCH better than the full-length that follows it. It is full of raw emotion and amazing lyrics. One of two CDs that feature Jason Lancaster as 2nd vocal (deeper more accented voice).

I would highly recommend picking this up for anyone. Even if you're glancing at this. Buy it, you will NOT be disappointed.

Three Cheers for Five Years: When I first heard "Three Cheers For Five Years" I instantly fell in love with Mayday Parade. Jason Lancaster's (now the lead singer of Go Radio) voice is terrific, then it goes to Derek Sanders and I instantly had to buy all their available albums. I did exactly that and they have yet to fail me.

The Last Something That Meant Anything: The raw emotion in Derek Sanders voice never ceases to amaze me. Seriously it blows me away. Jason Lancaster kills it too. 5/5

When I get home, You're So Dead: Intriguing title? I think so. I rate it 4/5 I don't like the auto tune in the beginning.

Just Say You're Not Into It: This song is one I think strongly felt by Sanders and Lancaster you can tell they laid their hearts out for all to see. 5/5

One Man Drinking Game: I cannot exactly place what this song sounds like to me. It's just another solid song 5/5

Your Song: No complaints. I always turn it up loud. I love how Derek kind of shouts. 5/5
Mayday Parade writes their own music (mostly Derek Sanders now) and i think that's why they always sound like the song actually means something.

Besides the beautiful harmonies and tasteful lyrics, this album hits home for someone who isn't into the whole pop punk genre. Every single track here has meaning and depth, and not one song is 'bad'. This is when Mayday was strongest, and now their doing great.

Listening to this cd after purchasing more recent ones its interesting because their sound has evolved. Not a necessary buy for a genre fan but highly recommended to any Mayday Parade fanatics

The album looks and sounds great. Not even a single smudge make or scratch was on the disk. It looks as good as new!
