The Tales From the Wild video series combines beautiful National Geographic film footage with a sinple storyline of the life of "one" animal. The film progresses with "Chapter" headings that act almost like commercial breaks, but also focus the viewer to the segment that will follow. The "storyline" is narrated by the "voice of an animal", sometimes the main character(Cain the Coyote), sometimes a second party (Lena the Leopard is narrated by a Warthog). At times the narrator inserts side comments (see Lena) that do little to enhance the production, in an attempt to add humor. The videos end with an overview of the material covered in an almost "music video" format. The material covered is clear and gernerally the storylines are well done. The viewer gains knowledge of how the animals survive (or don't survive) in the wild.The series is recommended for families interested in wildlife material, and who are looking for a different approach to the usual wildlife presentations.

I love hearing my kids giggle when they watch this video. It has excellent film footage of coyotes...but with the added interest of a fictional story told from the point of view of a rebellious adolescent coyote. This is appropriate for young children -- mine are 2, 4, and 6 years old and they all clamor to watch it again! The songs and the film clips of other animals were greatly enjoyed by my kids. This is an interesting story, told with gentle humor. Thank you, National Geographic -- keep up the great work!

I'm a teacher, I purchased this video set and the kids loved it! Each video has a "main character" that the kids can really relate to.
