5.0 out of 5 stars Four hours of insight and fun
Like another reviewer, we played this game for four hours! It was a wonderful way to learn fun tidbits about family and friends. At first, some of the questions seemed basic or silly, but before you knew it, we were laughing and telling stories that had us all anxious to hear the next question. I'd recommend this game to anyone who loves their family and friends, but...

my mother brought this game home when I was 10 years old and my sister was 6. the box said something like 5 and up. many of the questions are about first kisses, dating, high school, jobs and other things we had not experienced yet. very few questions were things we could answer. the game was really frustrating and sat in the closet for years, where friends would...

5.0 out of 5 stars Great inter-generational family activity!!, July 14, 1999

I have played this game with groups of youth and adults. I would recommend this game, especially for families to play together on a rainy afternoon. If you have several generations of you family together, it can be an excellent conversation starter. Life Stories can really get people to reminisce about past memories and experiences. I didn't really use the "board game" as it was intended, but the questions are great motivators. You might want to tape record or video this game for family members who aren't able to be there. You will learn things about your family members that you never knew before.

I've played this game three times and had three wonderful experiences. The first time was with three generations of family members. Everyone from Grandma to my 7-year-old was totally engaged in the converstation that was sparked, and the stories that came out that night have been retold many time since. The second time was with a group of adults I worked with. The bonding we all felt at the end of the evening caught everyone by surprise. The third time was with a group of adults, some of whom were new to our group. Again, everyone had a great experience! Buy this game and settle in for a long evening of fun and conversation!

I was introduced to this game as a get-to-know-you exercise at the first rehearsal of a play and I must say that it was one of the greatest four hours of my life! (Yes, four hours!) I can't praise this game highly enough.

I'm sure it's great for adults, but for kids, it's horrible.

Don't buy this game for your kids!

5.0 out of 5 stars Lots of fun for ALL ages (yes even kids), August 30, 2007

My kids (10, 8, 5) LOVE this game. They mostly love it for the stories that my husband and I end up telling, it is a great way for them to learn a bit about our past and who we are. We are also quite interested in the responses our children have to the cards. If they ever draw a card that doesn't apply, they just pick up a different one.

Here are some sample questions: Where was a special place you liked to play as a child? Tell about one of the best gifts you have ever received? Tell about a famous person you have met? Thumb wrestle with the person across from you. What is your favorite time of year and why? Recall a time when you got into trouble at school? Tell about a time when you helped someone. Describe one of the worst weather conditions which you have been in.

And so on.

We've lost the game board, but still pull this game out and just grab a card and start talking.

Now I haven't actually tried to get my kids to play this with their friends, in part because we've lost the game board, but overall, this is an excellent game for bringing families closer and sharing family stories and history.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fun for all ages, March 19, 2007
This review is from: Talicor Lifestories (Toy)
The best part of this game is the conversations. Whether you are playing with adults or children, your friends and relatives or people you barely know, you will love the stories. The only difficulty is putting it away. I have taken the game to restuarants and played while we waited for our orders...the wait staff joined in the fun. When there isn't time for a game, just pull out the cards and share your stories.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great Icebreaker, February 1, 2007
This review is from: Talicor Lifestories (Toy)
I've enjoyed playing this game with people from around the world- it seems to work best with a group of people who haven't been hanging out together since childhood. It gets people talking and makes for an evening of all sorts of interesting stories- and you get to find out what interesting people your friends are!

I have played this game in large groups and small groups. The large groups will consist of 8 people and the smallest is 2. When I have played a one on one game with a friend I leave with more knowledge about the individual than I went into the game with in large groups I feel more comfortable with each individual on a different level and usually I hear people say where can I get this game. I smile and kindly say just about anywhere.

5.0 out of 5 stars Sharing lives - an everyone is a winner!, January 6, 2007
This review is from: Talicor Lifestories (Toy)
When you share your life with others, you will always receice - and this is the first game I have come across, where you are garanteed to be celebrated as a winner at the end, too! The cards of the game can also be used separately to start conversations in a party: Just put 2 of them under the plate, and ask the guests to answer one of them. We have tried it!
