5.0 out of 5 stars New Neighborhood Favorite
We purchased this game for our 6-year-old son and wish we'd had it even earlier. We ALL love it! For the first time in a long while, friends that come to visit are passing up PS2 and pulling Monster Stomp off the shelf. Whether playing as a family or playing with friends, everyone at the table are equals. I like the idea that we don't have to worry about which of his...

My five-year-old really likes this game, so don't count it out. The concept (stomping play-dough monsters with a giant foot) is very appealing, and the artwork is detailed and cute. My five-year-old really likes this game, so don't count it out. The concept (stomping play-dough monsters with a giant foot) is very appealing, and the artwork is detailed and cute. However, I had expected a mini monster factory, since making and destroying monsters is pretty much the whole point of the game. Not so--it comes with a single mold. We improvise by making our own freestyle monsters. Gameplay is very dull--your token moves in a circle around the board so aimlessly that it is difficult to remember where you left off. This game could use some minor strategy to make it truly fun for the WHOLE family.

Whether playing as a family or playing with friends, everyone at the table are equals. I like the idea that we don't have to worry about which of his friends are proficient at math or reading, they are just having a blast. After all, how many kids do you know that don't love to squash stuff?

This game is ideal for kinesthetic learners. I have 6 and 9 year old boys who are highly hands on learners. They need games and activities that are kinesthetic and active. The highlight for them is getting to make the clay monsters and "stomping and squishing" them.

This was a gift for my niece. She plays the monster stomp game all the time with her grandmother but they don't use the dough that comes with the game to create the monsters. The dough is too sticky, wet and messy and sticks in the monster mold so they use pieces from fruit roll ups or gummy characters instead of molding their own monsters. My niece loves stomping the monsters with the boot. My niece loves the game so game gets 5 stars but the dough doesn't work well so the dough gets only 1 star. Using regular Play Doh may work better than the dough it comes with.

As a child therapist, I use this for helping kids overcome fears. It's more playable than some therapy games and works great for fear of monsters in a child old enough to count spaces and take turns. Boys love squishing the monster on their game card, to express anger or just for fun! The molding material that comes with the game dries out quickly and smells funny, so I use it with Play-Doh. You can also use the monster as a metaphor for anger problems or mastering problematic urges.

2.0 out of 5 stars DIDN'T LIKE THIS, September 7, 2007

I GOT MY SON THIS LAST YEAR JUST KNOWING HE WOULD LOVE THIS AS HE LOVES TO HIT AND SMASH EVERYTHING!! THE DOUGH WASN'T EASY TO HANDLE AND THE MOLDS WEREN'T VERY GOOD. I EVEN JUST MOLDED SOME MONSTERS OF MY OWN OUT OF PLAY DOUGH AND USED PLAY DOUGH MOLDS BUT HE WAS JUST NEVER INTERESTED IN THIS. I THINK IT'S A GREAT IDEA FOR A GAME AS MANY KIDS WOULD LOVE TO "SMASH" THEIR OPPONENT BUT I DON'T THINK THERE ARE ENOUGH ACCESSORIES AND I DIDN'T THINK THE GAME WAS THAT INTERESTING EITHER. I WOULDN'T RECOMMEND IT.

3.0 out of 5 stars good idea, not really well implemented, January 9, 2007

I like the idea of this game and it keeps my kids fairly involved. The monster mold is pretty lame and it's hard for little fingers to get the play-doh out (the monster clay that came with the game was completely dried out when we got it). Two molds that close might be nice to add some variety and allow more than one player to make monsters at the same time. I would recommend making extra monsters at the beginning of the game because having to stop to make others really interrupts the continuity of the game and you all know what that does to the "short attention span" participants...they may be off playing something else by the time the next round of monsters is ready.
