4.0 out of 5 stars It's cute AND it works!
My grandson likes cherries. Last year, his dad would bite one in half and hand him the part without the pit. I was kind of grossed out by this. 3.0 out of 5 stars My toddler loves it...
I just bought a Cherry Chomper and my 23 month old son couldn't wait to use it. He was able to pit cherries (with my help) and he ate every cherry he pitted. It's cute, easy to use and clean. It's true the base doesn't hold very many pits, but that's ok w/us because we are only pitting a handful of cherries at a time and we bought it more for novelty. I am only giving...

My grandson likes cherries. Last year, his dad would bite one in half and hand him the part without the pit. I was kind of grossed out by this. When I saw this in a catalog, I looked to see if it was on Amazon and decided to give it a try. I stayed with my grandson today and he wanted some cherries. They hadn't taken this out of the box, so I first used a knife to cut them. BIG MESS! I got out the Cherry Chomper and quickly put it to work. I had to learn to press firmly to push the pit all the way through. In fact. I kind of slammed my hand down on the plunger. This caused my grandson to blink. I noticed he started blinking in anticipation! LOL! The Cherry Chomper worked beautifully when the plunger was firmly pressed. It did not tear up the cherry. There was a hole from the pit coming out, but other than that, it looked like a fresh cherry. It was also very easy to clean. I'm sure there are other cherry pitters that work as well, but this one is also cute!

5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful, June 22, 2009

True, cherries get mashed and mushed in a pie, but for perfect looking cherries that are pitted, this is our favorite. Easy to use and easier to clean. Works well with olives, too!

I am only giving it three stars because it missed approximately one pit out of four. I had to cut open each cherry to make sure the pit was gone before giving it to my son to eat. If I wanted to pit cherries for pies or cobblers, I would buy a different pitter. This one is fine to use as a fun hands on activity for my son.

5.0 out of 5 stars Worth the Money!!, July 21, 2009

My wife bought this to use for pitting 4 lbs. of cherries for preserves. It pitted everything very easily except the really large cherries. It did not catch all the juice but her hands are not as stained as if she did these by hand. She really likes this item and highly recommends it.

4.0 out of 5 stars Why such a bad review!?, July 14, 2010
This review is from: Talisman Designs Cherry Chomper Cherry Pitter (Kitchen)
Why give this item such a bad review? I just rec'd it for a gift, and it works perfectly! I fed three cherry-hungry kids with it with no problem. Sure, cherry juice stains-that's a given, and if you don't like that- don't buy cherries! Otherwise, give the Chomper's head a firm push and it works perfectly! Now, would it be messy after pitting 3 lbs of cherries? SURE!!! The object is to empty it frequently-don't let it get too full of seeds or you will have a mess on your hands! I rinsed mine out after I was done, so, no puddle of water either! Takes 1 minute. My only fuss is I sure wish it pitted multiple cherries! Love that it's cute too! I would buy it for a gift for a friend, etc. Sweet in many senses of the word! ;-) Can't wait to try some Kalamata olives!

Very effective. Can develop assembly line speed. Watch out for some stones slipping through. Great help!

5.0 out of 5 stars Cute and functional, August 16, 2010
This review is from: Talisman Designs Cherry Chomper Cherry Pitter (Kitchen)
My mother bought me this pitter after MONTHS of searching for one. I didn't want to buy online, preferring to buy in a store so I could touch it first. Anyway, my mom got tired of my quest and bought this for me.

I pitted about 12 cherries in a couple of minutes with this thing. In that 12 cherries, it missed ONE pit. It did not smash the cherries at all and left them still "pretty". I did not have a DROP of cherry juice on my counter when I was done pitting the cherries today. I did have a bit of trouble getting it to always pop back up to the open position each time.

I, too, am not a person who likes a single purpose tool in the kitchen but this is so small I just throw it in the cupboard with the cups.

Would definately recommend this product.

We love this cherry pitter! It is so easy to use my 4 year old daughter can operate by herself! The integrity of the cherry is great after pit removed! Delicious snack that looks great in fruit salad or by itself!

5.0 out of 5 stars Ugly, but useful, January 23, 2012

This thing is tacky-looking, but it gets the job done. The only downside is that, with a pitter, I snack on more cherries than I expect to, and end up needing to buy a lot more. That's a sacrifice I'm willing to make, though!

5.0 out of 5 stars Fun...and functional?, November 22, 2011

I bought this for a friend who loves cherries, and she LOVED it. Sadly, her birthday is after cherry season, so it will be a while until we know how well it works (I suggested that she could try it with olives, but she wasn't interested in that plan). But it seems to be of good quality, given that it is a plastic, cartoon-shaped kitchen utensil, and even the packaging was cute. I would recommend it as a gift to anyone you know who really loves cherries, and/or likes to go "nomnomnom" while they're eating stuff.
