5.0 out of 5 stars Cools better and very quiet June 9, 2007

Fun: 5.0 out of 5 stars
I was impressed with my son's 360 talismoon fan, I bought one for mine as well. It's definitley much more quiet than the stock fan. It also seems to blow out hotter air which probably means more of it goes out now. I'd recommend this one to everyone who has a 360. Although you have to break your warranty though cause you're going to open your machine to install this.

5.0 out of 5 stars Preventing the RROD December 9, 2009

Fun: 5.0 out of 5 stars
I purchased this fan for just that reason, preventing the RROD. Now that i'm on to
my fifth xbox 360 I figured i might as well do something Microsoft isn't. First off
i removed the x-clamps holding down the heatsinks, applied some new thermal paste
and actually bolted the heatsinks down, then i put this fan in. For me, this is a
lot louder now but not enough to make me unhappy with the purchase. I was a little
worried about liking the blue led's but i think they are very cool and not over
barring. The plastic seems a little brittle but since i don't plan on moving them ever I'm not really worried. These fans pull some serious air out! The rear of the box is hot because that's where all the air is coming out, everywhere else on the xbox is literally cold to the touch, it pulls out that much air! Overall very happy with the purchase and would suggest it to anyone who knows their way around this kind of stuff and feels comfortable.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great product August 13, 2008

This fan really is quiet. It actually makes less noise then the stock fan. You can also see a difference in the xbox temp even after hours of play.

1.0 out of 5 stars Talismoon Whisper Fan April 9, 2011

Wow, what a colossal waste of money. This fan is louder than the stock fan that was being replaced due to bearing noise. These bearings sounds like someone stepping on a goose it squawks so loud. Big disappointment! Heading now to source factory oem replacement fan.

5.0 out of 5 stars Nice look October 27, 2008
Fun: 5.0 out of 5 stars
I got this with the clear case for my 360. installation was easy, it's a subtle blue even with a clear case. I may get a clear wind tunnel to try and enhance to glow. worth the purchase and the risk of breaking the seal

4.0 out of 5 stars More air flow, same noise level, not a perfect fit October 15, 2010

Fun: 3.0 out of 5 stars
This fan replaced a stock fan on a first-edition XBOX 360. The stock fan was loud with a high pitched squeal. This fan is about the same level of loudness but with a smooth hum. It's still loud, but naturally I prefer this fan's hum over the whistling stock fan.

Airflow output is better. Lots of heat being forced out. My XBOX 360 was suffering from 2-red-rings (overheating), so after a good cleaning of the heat sinks, I wanted a fan with better airflow output. So far, so good. Didn't want to go further (like adding thermal paste) so, hopefully, clean heat sinks and a stronger fan is all I need.

Only problem that I had was that this fan did not fit well in the fan bay. For some reason, it just would not snap in. I tried to shave some of the thickness off the edges with a Dremel, but eventually ended up making some strategic bends on the metal plate that the fan snaps in. Now it's nice and snug.

Overall, if it helps eliminate the 2-red-rings, then it's a good buy. If you want something more quiet than the stock fan, then this may not meet your expectations.

Fun: 5.0 out of 5 stars
I bought this fan to replace the original Xbox360 fan because one of the fans wouldn't turn on (the CPU fan apparently was dead while the other fan, the GPU fan, was spinning fine). I bought the talismoon and plugged it in, it lit up and started spinning, then one of the fans died just like the original fan; and the light on that corresponding side turned off as well. I thought the fan just blew out, but after some research and testing, i found out it was the actual BCP51 Bipolar Transistor that is located on the motherboard. Apparently if that transistor is fried, then the corresponding fan is only getting about 3v (it needs 5V). "You can usually spin the fans with your fingers to get them started but they won't go any faster."

[..]

So i used the talismoon fan for the 12V Fan Mod, and now its working fine keeping my xbox cool! Although with 12V powering the CPU fan, its louder than before, but I don't mind it.

So I gave this product five stars because it worked as advertised and the initial "blowout" was not a fault of the fan itself but of the xbox motherboard.
