Can't get enough of it!, November 22, 2001
This review is from: Talk About It (Audio CD)
First of all, I'd just like to say that I normally don't even LIKE this type of music... yet I'm IN LOVE with Nicole C. Mullen's CDs, both the first one and this new one.
I bought Nicole's first self-titled CD a few months ago because I really enjoyed "Redeemer" when I heard it in the WOW CD. At first when I heard "Shooby", I was like, "Uh-uh, I think this CD will be gathering dust soon... NOT my style." But pretty soon I couldn't get enough of the CD. It was so different and earnest and unique. You can tell right off the bat that Nicole is a real Christian, that she has a real relationship with Christ. The songs truly strike a cord. So when I heard that the new CD was out, I ran to buy it...
It arrived last week and I've given it no rest. Nicole definately has a lot to say because all her songs have a real message to them, no fluff.
1. TALK ABOUT IT
* This one will make you get up and DANCE! LOL Based on Psalm 106:44,107 and the title track. This is what it's all about; we've been given salvation for free, we've been lifted out of the miry clay... so hey! We have to TALK ABOUT IT! Don't be ashamed, don't be silent! This is the message of this song; be loud and be proud! AMEN!
2. BABY GIRL
* Typical NCM in that she narrates (tells a story) a lot in her songs. Here there are two instances of frustration, one by a 14 year old, one of Nicole and the help they recieve is the chorus: "Baby girl don't you know your wealth... God has made you a shining star..."
* This song shows that FUNKABILITY is back! :-)
3. CALL ON JESUS
* If you liked 'Redeemer', you'll like this one, too!
* This song just touches me. Everyone feels discouraged, ordinary... "But when you call on Jesus, all things are possible, you can mount on wings like eagles and soar..."
* Very powerful song. Awesome.
4. LET ME GO
* This is a song to fear... he had captured me, he had blinded me, but let me go... Mr. Love reigns here now! "Perfect love casts away all fear"...
5. WITNESS
* This song starts with the kids that are heard throughout her CDs. So cute, I like them!
* Again, the theme that we have to talk about it, witness... no matter who you are, what your social standing is...
Other subjects throughout the CD... abstinence until marriage discussed in "The Ring"... Jesus as the Lion and the Lamb in "Come unto Me"... God, the miracle-worker in "I can/Believe" (an intro deut by her and her Dad... he has a great old-fashioned voice!)... "Black Light" goes back to a main theme in her first CD, which is race; here he exhorts African-American youth to be a "black light"... the beautiful "Heaven".
A quick close-up to the song "Sometimes"... very fun! This fast-paced song mirrors our fast-paced lives and it's a comfort to know that "you're the... same yesterday and tomorrow won't change all your excellent ways"! Great, one of my favs!
I SO HIGHLY RECCOMMEND THIS CD! It's different, it's wonderful, it has something to say! May God continue to bless Nicole.
Note: Keep the CD running for some hidden audio of Nicole with her kids... very cute! :-)

Nicole C. Mullen's "Talk About It", May 27, 2002
This review is from: Talk About It (Audio CD)
This is an awesome CD! It's got beautiful lyricks. I knew I had to get this CD when I heard Nicole's upbeat and fresh "Witness" (track 7). I also truly enjoy the songs "Talk About It", "I can/ Beleive", "Baby Girl", and "Black Light" on the more upbeat side. But my favorite song is "When I Call On Jesus", a slow song. It says: "Sometimes I'm hiding away from the madness aroun me like a child who's afraid of the dark- But when I call on Jesus all things are possible-I can mount on wings like eagles and soar" and many other poetic words.

"Talk about It" to Everyone, December 20, 2002
This review is from: Talk About It (Audio CD)
The first song I ever heard Nicole sing was "Redeemer," and I was hooked! I went out immediately and bought the CD "Nicole C. Mullen." She soon became my favorite artist. I went and saw her sing in a "brown bag" concert in Houston, Texas. A brown bag concert is basically a single artist singing in a mall or a small outside location. She was just starting out at the time. She came out and everyone was excited. She sang outside. The temperature was about 65 degrees and there wasn't a cloud in the sky. She sang under a tarp canopy. Her voice was so full and rich that it resonated. I can't explain it in words, because I have never had that type of experience before. If you are a chocolate lover and I am, it is like drinking a warm cup of hot chocolate at the Ghiradeli Chocolate Factory in San Fransisco (multiplied by about a million). I bought her "Talk about it" CD as soon as it came out, and bought another one for her to sign at a concert she sang at Lakewood Church in Houston. I keep it proudly in a box with all my special memories I have had since childhood. I had the pleasure of talking with her after both her concerts I attended. She is just as sweet and beautiful as her music, if that's possible. I just saw she has a Christmas Album out, so I guess I will have to go buy that after I finish this writing this review. I love her music so much that my wife and I played a live version of "Redeemer" at our wedding. When I first heard "Redeemer," it touched me so much it brought tears to my eyes. I was just beginning my personal walk with Christ and I listened to this song over and over again. I didn't think you could wear out a CD, but I have replaced the two CD's twice. If you could imagine watching the most beautiful woman in the world, in a dress worthy of the Princess of Buckingham, walking up the aisle (crying because she loves you so much), you can catch a glimse of how powerful and beautiful Nicole's music is.
