BNL for the masses...not the fans,

After following BNL for many years and many concerts, I was looking forward to this DVD. I thought I might be able to use it to "spread the word" of the Barenaked Ladies. Unfortunately, it appears I was wrong. As always, BNL themselves were very good, but the energy from their live shows did not translate well to this DVD. Also, the irreverent quirkiness that makes them so fun to watch seems to have been toned down for this DVD (Angry People dance notwithstanding). They sounded somewhat nervous, which is a characteristic I have never seen in any of the more than 10 concerts I have attended. The sound, while technically DTS, was average. In many songs, the signature harmonies of BNL can not be heard at all. The DVD-Audio recordings of Maroon and E2E were significantly better. This DVD will live in my collection, although it is not likely that I will watch it very many more times. For an overall concert DVD, it is average, but for an amazing and hyper-entertaining band like BNL, it is a slight disappointment.

Just Okay,

I like some of their stuff, but was not too impressed with this concert. Music is so subjective; but then, so are movie reviews. Not critical of their music, only the performance. Seemed to be mechanical and lack-luster.

If you like their music, energy and style, you're gonna love this dvd. Barenaked Ladies are one of the most fun, original bands out there and this DVD shows it all. I've watched it three or four times now, just throw it on in the background of a party or something, it's crazy awesome. Not only is the music amazing and their performance, top-notch, but they have a full dance number, improvised audience participation and my favorite, five part harmony where they all crowd around one mic. Awesome. Kick-ass. Awesome. You can barely even tell they're in Michigan.

This dvd/blu-ray is AMAZING. It is everything I love about BNL. FUN, ENERGETIC, UNPREDICTABLE. I loved every minute of it. If you want to watch great live entertainment at its best....buy this dvd/blu-ray right now. Here is a band who loves what they do and that shines through in their performances. Don't listen to the other reviews because you will miss out on a fabulous live experience. It is the next best thing to being there in person. Yes, Steven Page is no longer with the band and I may be buying this a little late, but after recently seeing them in person I yearned for the camaraderie (did I spell that right???) of the original members. This fit the bill 100%. Do yourself a favor and add this to your collection of live music...it will not disappoint.

You just cant go wrong with BNL. (I can't wait to get their childrens CD for myself!) Cleaver writing and great music! I buy their music for myself and as gifts. They have never let me down. When I order on Amazon.com I know I'll get it on time and in good shape. If I need a mood enhancer, I Just pop 'Talk To The Hand' into CD player and I'm good to go!

A Barenaked Ladies concert is one of my favorite things in the entire world so I'm glad they were finally taped. My only complaint with this concert is that it feels highly edited. Other than that, BNL live is the best way to hear them. Smart & funny, these guys always put on a good show. Plus, kudos to them for using recycled packaging.

i was at the concert, and i was intereviewed for it and got in the dvd. but besides that, its a really good dvd. my only complaint is that they took out a couple of songs and their stories and adlibs, which add so much to the show
