A great fun start but the main male character was too perfect to make this an enjoyable read. The bases of the story is women leaves her husband after the wedding and she finds her way to a town named Paradise and to the 'perfect' man. I would pass on this book.

5.0 out of 5 stars This book is "Paradise"!, August 10, 2003
This review is from: Talk of the Town (Mass Market Paperback)
Kelly Atwood's new husband Raymond is out cold. Good thing she can deliver a left hook, after being slapped by Raymond when she questioned him about the cocaine she found in her honeymoon luggage while looking for space for more shoes. After ensuring Raymond is still breathing, she flees in his BMW, later boarding a bus headed north. Here she meets up with the incredulous Myrtle Crabtree, hometown Paradise, Washington. Myrtle persuades Kelly to hide out with her in Paradise, which at the time sounds like a great idea. Little does Kelly know that Paradise is just that - the town she has been dreaming about her entire life. Also, hometown to Sam Grayson, too good to be true local hunk, recently returned to the family law practice after life had dealt him some low blows.

The eccentric townsfolk of Paradise have made it their job to get Sam and Kelly together. Not a difficult task, considering Sam and Kelly ignite whenever they meet. However, there are a few issues that need to be looked into. Namely, Kelly's three hour marriage, a briefcase full of money found in the trunk of Raymond's car, and Raymond being found dead. Suddenly, Kelly's main concern is keeping her newfound friends and lover safe from the thugs chasing the briefcase full of money.

This is a delightful story of life in a small town, and how everyone knows everyone else's business. You will laugh out loud many times while reading this book, get lost in the budding romance between Sam and Kelly, and wish for your own personal "Paradise"!

5.0 out of 5 stars Who's that girl?, July 21, 2004
This review is from: Talk of the Town (Mass Market Paperback)
Kelly Atwood graduates from runaway to runaway bride when she finds out her husband of three hours isn?t at all the man she thought him to be. After knocking him out cold, she jumps in his BMW and sets out to make a new life for herself. But little does she know, a bad man and a lot of baggage can be hard to shake, even when you?ve found Paradise.

Sam Grayson is Paradise?s attorney at law. He?s already seen one girlfriend end up in the slammer and isn?t interested in a replay. So when knock-out Kelly Applebee comes to town, he tries to keep his distance. Unfortunately, there?s not a lot of room in a small town, his helpful nature is getting the better of him, and her tattooed long legs are driving him crazy.

In this laugh-out-loud romantic comedy, kooky characters and hilarious situations are as everyday as Main Street, USA. Suzanne Macpherson?s ?Talk of the Town? has got the sizzle and the giggle factors down pat, with enough action thrown in to keep the story good and entertaining.

4.0 out of 5 stars Cute and Sweet Book, February 21, 2004

Kelly Atwood marriage starts out with knocking out her new husband cold, after finding drugs in her suitcase. So whats a girl to do, but run. She ends running to Paradise Washington and in to the arms of local golden boy Sam Grayson. Who, with the help of the town falls hard for Kelly.
After reading the first book by Ms. Macpherson, I was looking forward to this book. It was a good, but the only thing that bug me was that the good people of Paradise, including our hero just seem to perfect to me. But still this is a good book for a rainy day or car trip.

4.0 out of 5 stars fun, sexy, romantic, July 20, 2006
This review is from: Talk of the Town (Mass Market Paperback)
after three hours of marriage, kelly atwood is seeking for a divorce and ran away to Paradise where she meets an old lady and her funny and fun gang who were trying to match make her with the town's own eligible bachelor, Sam..
Sam, having his own problems just can;t get kelly out of his mind eventhough from the looks of her, she spells trouble..
with the whole town trying to get this two people together, it was really a fun thing to read but i have to disagree with the ending as it was too long then even before you reached the last page, you're starting to get bored eventhough the story is just soooo fun to read..
to sum it up, this book is funny, sexy and romantic..just the perfect book to get away from the real world

4.0 out of 5 stars amusing delightful small town contemporary romance, August 3, 2003
This review is from: Talk of the Town (Mass Market Paperback)
Kelly Atwood was looking forward to her honeymoon with her new husband Raymond when she found the cocaine in his suitcase all because she needed shoe space. Raymond slapped her, but Kelly threw a left hook that connected, knocking her husband unconscious. She insures he still breaths than flees the scene of her one punch KO, knowing she will annul her marriage to this con artist drug dealer. On a bus to Seattle, she meets talkative beautician Myrtle Crabtree, who persuades her to hide out for now in her hometown of Paradise, Washington.

Sam Grayson recently returned to Paradise after a failed romance and because he was just weary of big city legal experience. However, rest and recuperation is not on the cards from the moment he sets eyes on Kelly. Not only his libido has gone off the Richter Scale, but also her recent past arrives full throttle. As Sam tries to keep his beloved safe, Kelly also wants to keep her loved ones (Sam, Myrtle, and other townsfolk) unharmed from the thugs that threaten everyone even at the cost of her own life.

TALK OF THE TOWN has some suspense and even a few legal elements, but for the most part is an amusing delightful small town contemporary romance. The lead couple is a charming duet and the eccentrics that make up Paradise are a humorous lot. Though the intriuge seems out of place inside the town, Suzanne MacPherson provides audiences with a fun tale that will make the auhtor the talk of the sub-genre.

2.0 out of 5 stars Great start, July 3, 2004
By A Customer
This review is from: Talk of the Town (Mass Market Paperback)
I really loved the beginning of this book and the heroine who knocks her criminal husband out. Kelly is eccentric, dyes her hair and has everything pierced. She meets and moves in with an even more eccentric woman and, all together, there was just TOO much eccentric in one place.

I would have enjoyed the book a lot more without so much Myrtle.
