About the Author

Rebecca Shaw is a former school teacher and the bestselling author of many novels. She lives with her husband in a beautiful Dorset village where she finds plenty of inspiration for her stories about rural life. She has four children and eight grandchildren. --This text refers to an out of print or unavailable edition of this title.

From AudioFile

The comforting sounds that come from Ric Jerrom settle the listener into the English village of Turnham Malpas, where every inhabitant gossips, often maliciously; no one can keep a secret; and only Peter, the handsome rector, can sort it all out. Jerrom snuggles right down to the reading with enthusiasm-sometimes restrained but always present. 4.0 out of 5 stars Entertaining, pleasant, July 1, 2008
This review is from: Talk Of The Village (Paperback)
This is the second work in the Turham Malpas series, the story of life in an atypical English village where crazy stuff is always going down. In this volume the villagers are shocked when the old big house gets changed into a fitness center staffed by annoying outsiders. There's also a flower festival, a kidnapping, and sides chosen in a village-wide debate over the practice of poaching.

Quote: "Heavens above, I shall hardly hare to go out."

This series is incredibly enjoyable. This second installment is just as good as the first one, and it focuses on a different main group of villagers than the first book does - although the characters from The New Rector (the first novel) are featured in secondary roles.
