    Amazon.com Review

Stand back, Heloise, here comes the Queen of Clean. Armed with both common sense and ingenuity, Linda Cobb made a name for herself on Morning, Arizona. For those of you who don't happen to live in Arizona, she has written this helpful little book. Talking Dirty with the Queen of Clean tackles just about any household stain, stink, or accident you can think of.

"There are five cleaning products you should never be without," says the Queen, "and most of them are things you already have in your home." What are they? White vinegar, baking soda, lemon juice, club soda, and Spot Shot Instant Carpet Stain Remover (her favorite brand). With these simple items, you can clean and deodorize nearly every room in your home, thereby saving money on expensive store-bought cleaners and reducing the amounts of chemicals in your home. Did you burn a casserole? Fill the dish with hot water, one tablespoon of baking soda, and soak. Try cleaning brass and copper with half a lemon sprinkled with salt. It should shine right up (and smell good, too).

The chapters are short and sweet, and besides the usual home/pet/kid/upholstery cleaning techniques, the Queen also tackles patio furniture, the grill, electronic equipment, plants, and smoke and water damage. Did you know you can distract grasshoppers by planting basil around your flowerbeds? They'll eat that and leave your flowers alone. Here's our favorite tip: when painting or washing walls, wrap washcloths or old rags around your wrists and secure them with rubber bands. When you lift your arms, the paint or water drips will be absorbed instead of running all the way down your arms. Keep this book handy. --Dana Van Nest

5.0 out of 5 stars This is my cleaning bible!, October 16, 2000
This review is from: Talking Dirty With The Queen Of Clean (Paperback)
I love this book! I just received it this past week and let me tell you I don't know what I did without it! I have always heard of the cleaning properties of baking soda, vinegar and lemon juice but never knew how to mix these concoctions to make a cleaning solution. The queen gives you those recipes, plus so much more! The tips that are provided in this book are wonderful and quick. I have already saved over $25.00 from NOT throwing things out because I used the tips in her book (2 shower curtains and a Rubbermaid dishrack were salvaged thanks to the queen). Plus, I was able to clean the bathroom in my bedroom to look so fabulous I couldn't believe it! Thanks to this book, I didn't have to regrout my bathtub, and the regimine was so simple! I got rid of so many cleaning solutions that I hated using anyway! Even though there are many things I would much rather do than clean house, this book has opened my eyes to short cuts and natural ways of cleaning. I don't mind getting my hands dirty if I don't have to use harsh abrasives (please note - there are a couple of mixes in the book that will encourage you to wear gloves and work in a well ventillated area, but only a couple and they are well worth it). I told a friend of mine about this book and she went out and purchased it; I showed my mom this book and she was impressed! I am so grateful that Ms. Cobb has shared her knowledge with us - my house looks so much better in a short amount of time! If you are a busy person like me... I highly recommend this book not only to get your house in gear but to save you time and money! Best book I ever bought!

I really like the book Talking Dirty with the Queen of Clean. I have used several of Mrs. Cobbs methods to clean my kitchen and my bathrooms and with my husband, brother-in-law and three little boys running around I need all the help I can get. I would recommend this book for anyone with a big household with lots of boys(guys) who don't know how to pick up or clean up after themselves. The disenfecting tips are great for the bathroom where they are needed most in my home. I never would of thought to use this stuff to clean with. There are tips for all over the house. This book is a life saver. I live sixty-five miles from a grocery store and have a lot of the items used as cleaners on hand that are used in this book. Mrs. Cobb has a lot of great tip for cleaning items from baby clothes to shop oil spills. This is a all aroung great book.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Brand New Book To Help You Keep It Clean !, September 23, 2000
This review is from: Talking Dirty With The Queen Of Clean (Paperback)
Linda Cobb is really one of the clean-up gurus that can help you easily and quickly clean virtually everything you own. This new 160 page gem of a book shows you how to spruce up (and keep clean) all kinds of things. Not only that, but you can do it with stuff you already have sitting around your house, or can easily and inexpensively obtain. Her techniques are easy to accomplish and the results are fast. In our house we found out quickly what couuld be done with a lot of the things we had in the house and garage. By using vinegar, car wax, lemon juice, baking soda, detergents, rubbing alcohol, Tang, and even denture cleaning tablets, miracles were accomplished. Wow ! We actually did some of these things the first day we got the book. Whether you need help with your shower, tile, faucets, toilets or other bothersome things, her tips make the work simple and easy. Topics are easily located in the book, another time-saver. This book is a great value at $ 8.09. It'll save you plently in time and money. It's an inexpensive gift that your friends will appreciate, even those that it's difficult to buy for. It's something that every home owner or apartment dweller can use, male or female, married or single. We gave a copy to our newly married daughter, and she immediately found useful hints and put it to work. Highly recommended.
