Product Description

Surrounded by death, a man with a terrible gift reaches for life.

A horrific tragedy blasted open a door in young Michael O'Rourke's mind-cursing him with the ability to talk with the Dead. Nearly two decades later, Michael has moved from victim to survivor, using his abilities to seek out those who would go unjudged.

With his gift, he talks to those who've died violently and seeks out their killers. Only once he's found the murderer, can the victims be at rest. After his last case, the only thing he wants is peace and he hopes to find it in the small town of Mitchell, Indiana.
But something is horribly wrong-the dead are waiting for him there, as well.

Small town sheriff Daisy Crandall is frustrated. The murder investigation she's leading is going nowhere, the few leads she's had haven't panned out. She needs a break-this case is personal and when a stranger arrives, turning up where he shouldn't be, she's suspicious. Finding out that he is more than what he appears to b, should shock her but doesn't. The fact she's highly attracted to him at the worst possible time is a hindrance.

Unfortunately, teaming up with Michael is the only way.

Now it's a race against time before the killer destroys the life of his next victim...

5.0 out of 5 stars Talking with the Dead, February 29, 2008
This review is from: Talking With The Dead (Kindle Edition)
Michael O'Rourke lived through a traumatic childhood. One harrowing
event left him with the ability to talk to the dead. He uses his
special abilities to help the ghosts find peace and to get justice.

After a long hard case, Michael is ready for rest and relaxation. When
he stops in Mitchell, Indiana, he has no idea he's walking into the
killing ground of a serial killer. When the last victim comes to him
and says the killer has someone new, he's determined to find him before
he has the chance to murder again.

Dasynda Daisy, is the local sheriff in Mitchell. She is intent on
finding the person who has been killing off the women in her town. The
case is personal to her, she's ready to close it and take a much-needed
break. She's leery of Michael from the beginning, but accepts his help
in the end.

Daisy and Michael attempt to fight their attraction while working
together to find the killer. When they finally give in to desire, it
changes things for both of them

Talking with the Dead is an intriguing quick read with a touch of
romance. The main focus of the book revolves around the mystery of the
killer with the romance between Michael and Daisy running on the
sidelines. The relationship between Michael and Daisy seems a bit hasty
which I didn't like but the rest of the story kept me intrigued. I
agonized with Michael in parts of the story, his inner struggles are
written flawlessly. Michael and Daisy both have personal struggles to
overcome before they can admit to wanting to be with each other. It was
refreshing to watch as Michael dealt with his ghosts and finally went
after what he wanted, Daisy.

3.0 out of 5 stars Different than what I expected, January 31, 2009

This review is from: Talking With The Dead (Kindle Edition)
I've always enjoyed reading stories that have a hint of paranormal in them. "Talking With the Dead" has a touch of this element, but not as much as I thought it would.

It is an interesting plot, but it can get confusing unless you're paying close attention. There is more violence than I expected. It isn't anything that will keep you up at night, though.

The reader will sympathize with the protagonist, Michael O'Rourke, as the author does a fantastic job of making him believable.

Pretty good quick read.. I enjoyed the paranormal aspect more than the romance.. as the latter was samo samo.. but pretty creative paranormal.. short book.. can be read in a day.. would suggest for the low cost.
