Still strong because of its fantasy plot, April 18, 2005
The fourth book in Zoey Dean's A-List series follows Anna Percy down to the chic resort of Las Casitas, Mexico. Sam, tired of her new stepmother's baby preparations, sneaks off to join her. What could two Juicy Couture-clad teens find in an exclusive vacation spa? Danger, adventure and, of course, hot guys. Life back in Beverly Hills has a few surprises lately, too. Cammie is falling seriously in love with the innocent Adam. Both are surprised by their enjoyment of picnics and talking in the midst of a world of hot parties. Sam's stepmother Poppy finds a New Age sister in Dee, and even asks Dee to move in with the Sharpes. Anna's parents consider getting back together as they bond over their concern for Anna's sister, newly out of rehab. In Mexico, Anna is determined to learn how to surf, and Sam tries to find a boy who cares about more than getting into her father's next picture. A trip to a small Mexican Village leads to the girls getting lost. They're in serious trouble, but then a group from home jets down to try and rescue them. TALL COOL ONE is fun for the virtual vacation to Las Casitas alone. Reading about the amenities of that resort is delicious. The fantasy plot keeps the momentum of this series going. Fans will enjoy the spring break adventure and wonder what the Hollywood teens will be up to next time. --- Reviewed by Amy Alessio

Even Better, July 31, 2005
Zoey Dean makes "The A-List" an even better series with Tall Cool One. Anna Percy struggles with finding herself and becoming her own person with life after Ben. She sees everyone hooking up around her and wonders if a one-night stand would do her any good. I was excited to see Anna and Sam get away to Mexico and away from the influence of everyone in Cali. It was also good to see that Sam is able to in some ways come to terms with being "overweight" compared to the rest of her friends-and to find a hot guy in the process! It is also relieving to see that Cammie is actually a real person; she is not all cattiness and hormones, she does have feelings! The way this book ends is keeping me waiting for more (especially on the Sam front, now that she's found her "prince"!)

A Review Of Tall Cool One, May 19, 2005
I found Tall Cool One by Zoey Dean to be an excellent book. It is the fourth installment of The A-List series. In the first book, Anna Cabot Percy--a wealthy, intelligent, prep school girl-leaves her home in New York to begin a new adventure living with her father in Beverly Hills, California. Over the next two books, she meets many new people and has many new experiences. In Tall Cool One, Anna decides that she needs a break from the ordinary, and she and her friend Samantha Sharpe (along with her father's nightmarish assistant) take off for Las Casitas, a resort and spa in Mexico. Here she encounters even more excitement and ends up having the time of her life. Tall Cool One is well written, funny, interesting, and suspenseful. I think that the book moves at a perfect pace-slowly enough to understand, but quickly enough to avoid boredom. It is a book that would appeal mainly to middle and high school girls. I found it very entertaining and had difficulty putting it down. Other books that you may like if you enjoy Tall Cool One are the rest of the A-List series-The A-List, Girls On Film, and Blonde Ambition-all of which are written by Zoey Dean, The Clique by Lisi Harrison, and Gingerbread by Rachel Cohn. Finally, I think that all girls between ages 12 and 18 should read this novel and will enjoy it.
