The Wailers, The Boys from Tacoma.. The original garage band
This is a fine collection of early music from those boys from Tacoma, Washington, The Wailers. Charting at #36 in 1959 with "Tall Cool One", the Wailers had early success, and followed up in 1961 with the first rock version of Richard Berry's song, Louie Louie, which was a huge hit in the Pacific Northwest. Caveat Emptor
This is a horrible disappointment! It was the first Wailers cd I bought, and I was really excited as I placed it in the cd player tray. That excitement soon turned to disgust, as even their signature song,"Tall Cool One," is a rerecording! Buy the Ace "Original Golden Crest Masters" instead, and find out what the real Wailers were like!

The Wailers transitioned from a primarily instrumental band into a fine vocal group. This CD has examples of their early instrumental music, and transitional vocals. If you like the early NW sound, you'll love this.

THE ORIGINAL "WAILERS" WERE FROM SEATTLE!!!, June 14, 1998

This album is an excellent example of the "Seattle Garage Band Sound"!!! Songs such as "Tall Cool One" (their first top 40 hit) "Louie Louie", "Shake Down" "Seattle", Frenzy", and "Mashi" were all popular songs that made up the Seattle Sound in the mid '60s!!!... they did concert tours all over the USA! If you are into the original "Grunge" or Garage "Northwest Sound" you've GOT to add this album to your collection!!!
