Graham Grips,
This review is from: Tall, Dark, and Deadly (Mass Market Paperback)
Amongst the backdrop of flashy Miami Beach, Coconut Grove, lurking monsters in the Everglades, Graham grips you again into the world of mystery & romance.I relaxed & had fun with this book. I could feel the danger lurking off Key Biscayne. The twisting complex relationship between Sam, a witty, brave woman & Rowan, her sexy ex-lover was truly enjoyable. I found myself leary but pulling for them. "Tall, Dark, and Deadly" left me thrilled, chilled, and satisfied. if you find my comments interesting, please click the *yes*--thanks--CDS

Mary Higgins Clark wishes to write this well!,
This review is from: Tall, Dark, and Deadly (Mass Market Paperback)
From the ghastly, engrossing first page through the suspense-filled surprise ending, Graham's new novel reads like the book Mary Higgins Clark has been trying to write for years. Graham manages to make one actually feel the sweaty atmosphere of hot, humid southern Florida, so much so, that as one tears through the the pages of this pulse-pounding and ever-so romantic thriller, this reader found himself mopping his brow on more than one occasion. As for characters, each one has a rich and unique personality, seldom seen in the genre. Ms. Graham's moments of humor are apt, never calculated and always derive honestly from the characters, as well as being welcome tension breakers. If you've never read a Heather Graham novel-GET THIS ONE! For suspense, romantic or otherwise, it just doesn't get any better. Bravo! Ms. Graham. You've done it again!

Just what I'd been looking for...,
By Danielle Stevens (Philadelphia) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Tall, Dark, and Deadly (Mass Market Paperback)
Summers are slow, lazy, and hot; Heather Graham's latest thriller was just what I needed to give me a little chill...her 'tall, dark, and deadly' villain seemed so real that I found myself checking the doors and windows before I went to bed. The romance between Sam and Rowan developed naturally before reaching a gratifying intensity. I also loved the scene-setting. It was so dreamy and enticing that I think I want to buy a house on the ocean...

Great book....lousy editing,

Had it not been for the major inconsistencies in the book it would have gotten 5 stars. If the author can't catch the mistakes you would think the editor would. Adelia's husband Mario suddenly becomes Julio 20 pages later..... typos galore.

This was my first Heather Graham novel and I couldn't put it down- the swamp was the perfect setting for the sizzling story. Graham is a great story teller- I didn't know whodunnit until the very end!

Cheesy, but still okay,
This review is from: Tall, Dark, and Deadly (Mass Market Paperback)
It may be the changing times, but my opinion of this book, and Ms. Graham, changed a whole bunch from the first time I read this book in 2006. I loved it then but found it lacking in 2010.
The hero, Rowan, is sexy and honorable. The heroine, Samantha, was hard for me to identify with. She is dedicated to the people she loves, I get that, but she comes across as not being very smart. Some of the thoughts that run through her head are laughable, and silly. The suspense is okay, but the way Samantha's thought processes work irritated me. As I've said in another review of Ms. Graham's work, there are way too many explanation points. For example; `"Joe!" she said blankly.' Sorry, to me, an explanation point does not equal a blank statement--that's kind of the reason for explanation points! The dialogue is unnatural, and rough. The average person just doesn't say things like; "...musn't ever find out..." A lot of suspects abound because EVERYONE is tall, dark, beautiful and built! There are several typo's and mixed tenses in this particular book. Of course, typo's are expected, but some of these are blatant. Not all of that can be put on Ms. Graham--her editor at Penguin Putnam is more responsible than she is for the oversights. Still, it's a decent read, even though it's irritating and feels false at times. I'm a fan of Ms. Graham's and if you like sexy romance/suspense novels, you'll most likely enjoy this tale. Oh yeah, there is a really decent sex scene. It's lengthy and involved and pretty hot, until silly Samantha ruins it. Shelley Dawn, author of Sweet, Sweet Jessie and Dark Nights

They're ALL tall, dark, and handsome - so who did it?,

Ready for a lot of suspence? Read the prologue and see if you can put it down! I bet you can't. And it kept me going to the end. This one has it all- murder, passion, suspects, ex-lover(s),and alligators. One reviewer called it a romantic-suspence and that is right on target. Sam's girlfriend + neighbor comes up missing and Sam can't let it go. The police are on the case but things aren't moving as fast as she thinks they should. Sam soon discovers that her other neighbor that has just moved in is none other her ex-lover Rowan who is trying to leave his past (a suspect of murder)and move forward or is it backwards (with Sam being back in his life even if it is as a neighbor). So Sam and Rowan are now trying to find the pieces to the puzzle themselve. A great story! You'll enjoy it.

This is one of the best books that I have read in awhile,

Once I started reading this book, I could not put it down. Heather had me guessing who the killer was up to the very end of the book. The characters were interesting with their own little problems. The reading was very easy going, and I would recommend it to anyone who wants a good murder mystery.

I liked this book well enough, but I was a little disappointed. After reading her book "Drop Dead Gorgeous" last summer, I thought this one fell short of the previous one. Maybe I just didn't like the characters as much in this book. But, overall it's a good story, worth the paperback price, but I thought Drop Dead Gorgeous was better.

Entertaining, intense main characters, and page-turning,
This review is from: Tall, Dark, and Deadly (Mass Market Paperback)
I've only read one other Heather Graham novel so I don't have much to compare it to, but I found this work to be well written despite the typos.I loved the two main characters, Sam and Rowan. I looked forward to reading each steamy, emotionally tense encounter between them. The surprise at the end was a great top-off as well. This book has characters one is drawn to and want to read more about.
