A tonic,
By markellerby@yahoo.com (Sheffield, England) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Tally Ho (Audio CD)
This album is a gentle Sunday drive through space while eating a delicious sherry trifle! Well, each to his own. However you want to think about it, you will love this record. It's fun, easy listening, bouncy music which will lift your spirits whatever mood you're in. That's not to say it lacks depth, it's just that the varied emotions present are all positive. Luke Vibert has given us this beautiful album with all his love.

Piano Playa Lover,
By Toby Huntington (London, UK) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Tally Ho (Audio CD)
Luke Vibert (deranged genius trading as Wagon Christ) is THE only bearded Cornishman you should allow to whisper sweet nothings in your ear. The reason for this is simple - the sweet nothings, accompanied by fairground ride-style organ music and stuttering beats make up "Juicy Luke Vibert", just one of the playful, bouncy tracks Vibert has created for Tally Ho! The overall feel of the album is happy and warm, so the occasional scream jarrs badly, and there is a strange vein of sexual perversion running through it, too. Maybe I was a little hasty in trusting Vibert...

I swear to God, can any one human possibly make better music than Luke Vibert? If you've heard any of his [plug] stuff and you liked it, then you should put on your superman underoos and warm your mouse finger up cause you'd better order this cd right now from amazon.com. This cd will provide endless hours of pure listening bliss and giggly-wiggly laughter with all your schoolgirl friends and family. Have a Luke Vibert party and play this cd. Tell all your friends. Spread the word. Tell everyone that the wagon messiah has come again to save us! Do whatever it takes to support this chronic-smoking loop happy cornish lad with a gift for making incredibly magnificently utterly meaningless music. The time has come!!!

TRULY "CHRIST"-LIKE!!!,

Luke Vibert a/k/a Wagon Christ has compiled a CD of utter brilliance and sheer genius! Not your typical hum-drum and bass or electronica for that matter, Wagon Christ takes songs and "mangles" them into beautiful-funky soundtracks, just like mix-master-phenom Amon Tobin would do it. In fact, some of the breaks and samples on "Tally Ho!" are quite reminiscent of Tobin's work only with a more fun, carefree, "vibrant" aura to them. Wagon Christ had to grow on me, and once it finally did, I could write an impartial review. This is a great CD for you electro heads and should satisfy you until the next big thing comes along!

memory towel,

After 2 years of searching following a chance encounter with 'Memory Towel' on BBC radio, it is easily THE most satisfying album purchase I've made in a long time. It's sinister, it's dexterous and it has a sense of humour. Just a stunning thing.

I've never heard anything like Wagon Christ .... Luke mixes an orchestra with a moog with tight beats ranging from trip-hop to d'n'b. The production, well it sounds like the music has gone through tens of thousands of dollars worth of processing devices. Luke has an acute sense of rythym and also an appreciation for glowing ambient symphonics. And they're all mixed together along with samples that make you wonder if Beck was in the studio with him. As my first taste of Wagon Christ, Tally Ho! sounds like it could be one of his best, but I wouldn't be surprised to find other great Wagon Christ albums. Sit back and enjoy this one with some really expensive speakers!

..this album have an special self feeling thats not easy to find out there and thats maybe why not everybody thakes it as an master piece; its hard to indicate some highlight song because every song sounds better than another ...strong melodies, well constructed beats and sounds ,60s orchestrations..realy a nice one..

Luke, I'm your Father,

There's a sense of humor intrinsic to this work that's both unique and refreshing to the genre. Luke Vibert has made work transparent to his time, forward and uplifting. Attending a recent dj session by Wagon Christ proved what an outstanding dj and recording artist he is. I am confident that, like me, you will look forward to each of his new works.

Luke Vibert/Wagon Christ is not god , but comes close,
By Yury (NY United States) - See all my reviews

This guy defiantly put a mark on electronic music. Funky Hip Hop beats, breaks, drum n bass beats, and very interesting samples. This is one of those masterpieces that has to grow on you. But after few listens you will realize that this is the best damn album you ever heard. I own everything by Mr. Luke Vibert and I have to say that Tally Ho! is definitely the best of his previous efforts (but at the same time his other works are also amazing). When you listen to Tally Ho! more and more you will feel something, its like you are in a land of craziness, and you will say, "This is unreal" . I for one don't know any one other hip-hop producer that changes keys and chords like Vibert and his name is Josh Davis (Dj Shadow). So anyway, check out this album its will blow you away.

BEST VILBERT CD SO FAR,
By A Customer
This review is from: Tally Ho (Audio CD)
THis CD is basically a refinement of LUKE VILBERT'S solo CD on Mo Wax. The melodies and the textures are much improved so this cd does not have the monotony problem of his previous work. unfortunately the beats are a lot more tame. it sounds like hes been listening to some of the more boring and lame artists on ninja tune.there's also some decent spoken word kitch thrown in. hopefully vilbert will take some rythem cues from amon tobin. and explore more vocals next time. |
