Rabbi Steinsaltz has done a superb job translating, notating, and commenting on each tractate of the Talmud. A daunting and very difficult task, I am sure. My Temple's Talmud study group has been using the Steinsaltz Talmud for about eight years and we are constantly impressed by it. So far I own six of the tractates and will buy each additional one as we approach it in our study group. I just wish they publisher would re-publish the set as the volumes can be quite expensive.
