With new, expanded modes, kids can even take their character to the park or the store.

Kids have a direct influence on the Gotchi's personality and appearance, which develop through each stage of life, from infancy to adulthood. When a Gotchi grows up, it can even meet a partner and have babies of its own.

A younger child might enjoy it, but it's certainly not very exciting for an adult looking for a nostalgia kick.

Although this is a pretty great recreation of it, I didn't feel the awesome nostalgia I thought I would for this Tamagotchi toy.

I bought the Tama-Go recently and I am disappointed with the latest version in the Tamagotchi franchise.

Luckily, I purchased my Tama-Go far cheaper than the average price of twenty dollars. In my opinion twenty dollars is too much for the Tama-Go considering all its drawbacks, which are listed below:

1. The system itself is larger than its predecessor, making it more difficult to carry around outside the home or conceal it properly.
2. You have to purchase the batteries separately now. Not to mention the batteries do not last very long; mine died within one-to-two weeks of play. The old batteries used were a hassle to change, though they lasted a lot longer and were included with the Tamagotchi.
3. You can no longer name your Tamagotchi.
4. A lot of the features on the former Tamagotchis were discarded with the Tama-Go. Instead of the four-or-five games your Tamagotchi was able to play after maturing, you get two games that inevitably become boring after awhile. I also miss the mail system, the ability to acquire certain items by means of codes, the capability to travel across the planet with the purchase of a ticket, and the unique school and job structure.
5. Then you have to spend an extra ten dollars just to buy figures that include one shop and two games, after having to spend twenty dollars on a Tamagotchi that pales in comparison to its predecessors. Bandai is obviously believes money grows on trees.
6. Tamatown, the online world your Tama-Go can connect to, is also a letdown. This most recent version has less games and fun activities. And I can rarely access the site.

I am hoping the next version of the Tamagotchi will exceed my expectations and be a lot better than the Tama-Go.

After opening the tama-go, I was surprised at its size. It is a little tiny bit bigger than an easter egg. The play was fun. Since it has a 4-scale grayscale screen, there is lots of detail. I love the fact that you can purchase new backgrounds for your room. It also has an interchangeable faceplate, so you can make your own, or put in a new one. Even though it only has two games, these games never really get boring. They are as follows: Shoot the bug, kind of obvious description, and Long Jumper, jump over gaps by pressing the appropriate button. You can also connect collectible figures, (obviously sold separately) each one unlocks a game and a shop. The toy keeps track of how many you have collected. The included figure has on game, Cradles where you drop babyichis (tama babies) on to moving platforms. Don't worry, they don't get hurt if you miss.
So sums up my review. Hope it was helpful!

This item was shipped and arrived very quickly. I was very excited to open my new toy as I told myself to ignore other people's reviews. Despite it's size; this product was overall nothing compared to what other buyers were saying. It is very fun and I love it.

I bought this toy because my daughter's Tamagotchi Music Star was broken. First of all we were surprised that the Tama-go is so big, and even bigger with the figures that you put on the top of it.
My daughter loves it anyway (she gave 5 stars) and thinks it's better than the music star, or familitchi that she had earlier. She misses the shop where you can buy items, though, but fortunately I also bought a Chamametchi figure that includes a toy shop. But the toys in the shop are too expensive in her opinion :-)
She also loves Tama town, and likes to "chat" with other users there.
As the person who paid for the toy, I have to say that is was pretty expensive, also due to the shipping fee. The tama-go is not sold in Europe (as far as I know) and I had to order it from the USA.

When I recieved this item I was soooooooo excited to get it! I was also surprised how big it was too! I really think that this newer gotchi version is better than most of the others. The advantages it has are: it's bigger than the other tamagotchi versions, it has a bigger screen, you can change the face-plates, you can go online to a newer and better tama-town, you can collect gotchi figures to get new games and exclusive shops, your Tamagotchis can also get pets and soooooooo MUCH MORE! Mametchi is my favorite tamagotchi and I like his tama-go the best! I DEFINATELY RECOMMEND this tama-go! I give it an A++++!!!! :D

Vine Customer Review of Free Product ( What's this? )
This is a fun toy but it often requires adult supervision. Not because there is anything risque about it, but because there needs to be guidance on how it works.

For adults, it's often a challenge to see everything on the small screen, but that's true of any electronic gadget.

Longevity of the toy is arguable, not because of issues with durability but because of the interest that the toy inspires. My niece enjoyed playing with it, and her younger brother (3 yrs old) came up to try to see if he could help her play it. She played with it for about 20 minutes, before leaving it for the computer games , the PSP, and the iPad.

Overall, a good attempt to bring back the tamagotchis of the 90s, but maybe the current generation of kids already have their hands full with mobile devices.
