I'm just a parent, and don't play with this toy myself, so I can't tell you much about it's operation. But, I know my two girls are having a blast and play with the thing constantly. My youngest is ADHD and can't keep her attention on much of anything for long, but this toy has got her hooked. It is a great toy for travel entertainment.

This does not require a lot of instructions. It is simple and basic, which overall contributes to make it more fun. It can easily fit in a small pocket and tiny areas. The tamagotchi is the perfect toy to take anywhere on the go without having to lug around tons of electronics or other devices.

got this as a gift for a "tween". would not recommend for younger children. very fun to watch your TAMAGOTCHI hatch, then you care for him/her as they grow and mature. great tool for learning responsibility!

I find this version to be better than the newer ones in terms of playability. The instructions came in spanish only, but the controls are very simple anyway, so it wasn't a loss.
