This tamagotchi is pretty different from the previous V4 or V4.5. You're getting 3 characters on your screen instead of just one. When visiting Tamatown, your middle character will leave the screen and you can play games in Tamatown to get money. And there're more games in Tamatown than shops so you usually rely on your "shopping channel" in your device to buy new items. What I like about this new version is the fact that you'll not run out of food that you've bought, they're more expensive but they last (probably) forever. On the first generation, you'll get to play only 4 games but once you've on your second generation, you'll be able to play 2 more games with your papa/mama. Overall, something new from Bandai. Satisfactory!

I remember when virtual pets were first introduced in the States and can say that this product is a far cry from that! While the set-up is a little bit different, and perhaps slightly more complicated than similar products, it is vastly superior. You are responsible for raising three companions through adulthood and then finding a spouse for them. There are 6 games available in this (celebrity) version and countless new foods, items, and souvenirs available for purchase (using free money you earn while playing games). Your "pets" will sleep from roughly 9pm-9am, ensuring that the game player is able to get some rest themselves. This version also allows you to pause and silence the game (for those children who may be tempted to take their new friends to school). Overall, the pets don't require too much care (usually every 3 hours or so), which allows you to give them as little or as much attention as you feel like in the downtime. A great, well-priced toy for any age.
