This is a v4 tamagotchi, they now have 4.5 and maybe 5's are out already, I'm not sure. Of course, the later model is the most popular with the kids, but I got these for a screaming 5 bucks and my kids love it. They also hook up to other v4 and you can play games. Good for boys and girls from 7-10 years old.

the kids, all 6, got these for christmas a few years ago. they love them, i got addicted to them. if i would just buy the batteries they would still be playing with them. they have tons of accessories you can buy with them. i would recommend buying these, and buying some spare batteries.
