Amr Diab's best work after Habibi!,
By Ismail Elshareef "ielshareef" (Los Angeles, CA United States) - See all my reviews (VINE VOICE) (REAL NAME)
This review is from: Tamally Maak (Audio CD)
Amr Diab's forte has got to be his ability to transcend the lingual and cultural borders with his sensuous music. TAMALLY MAAK's eclectic melodies will appeal and be remembered by both Western and Eastern audiences that appreciate world music. Here is the rundown: 1. El-Alim Allah (God knows): Reminiscent of his earlier hit "Nour El Ain", this track creates a Gypsy-Kings-like danceable ambience. A great album opener! 10/10 2. Tamalli Maak (Always with you): The title track and the first ballad of the album. This is a song that grows on you the more you listen to it. Definitely a hit! 10/10 3. Keda Eyni Eynak (So bluntly): A typical Amr Diab's song. Catchy tune, light and always fun to listen to. 9/10 4. Wu He Amla Eh (What is she doing now?): Another Amr Diab's light track. 9/10 5. Seneen (Years): This has got to be my favorite track in this album. Very cheerful and effervescent, the song's rhythm and melody makes you dance in your seat. The guitar will resonate in your soul. 10/10 6. Aamel Eh (What shall I do?): Very catchy seemingly-folkloric tune! I really like the ethereal, faint vocals echoing in the background echoing his words. Not as good as the previous tracks, though, for that it sounds pretty dated. 8/10 7. Law Kan Yerdheek: (If it pleases you): Sounds like a track from one of his older albums. Great song, though. 8/10. 8. Baatarif (I confess): This is such a heartfelt and very touchy ballad. The tempo is slow and soothing. Definitely a romantic song expressing love and yearning through beautifully arranged vocals and strings. 10/10 9. Albi Ikhtarak (My heart chose you): Very similar to Marc Anthony's "I Need to Know" rhythm-wise. Amr manages the high pitches very well. The use of the guitar gives the song a really cool edge. 9/10 10. Saaban Alayya: This is a somber yet promising track. I personally love it. 10/10 The album also comes with an insert that includes several pictures of Amr Diab and the lyrics in both Arabic and English. The quality of the recording is superb. TAMALLY MAAK makes a wonderful gift or a valuable addition to an eclectic music library. It's that good!
