Amr Diab's best work after Habibi!,
By Ismail Elshareef "ielshareef" (Los Angeles, CA United States) - See all my reviews (VINE VOICE) (REAL NAME)
This review is from: Tamally Maak (Audio CD)
Amr Diab's forte has got to be his ability to transcend the lingual and cultural borders with his sensuous music. TAMALLY MAAK's eclectic melodies will appeal and be remembered by both Western and Eastern audiences that appreciate world music. Here is the rundown: 1. El-Alim Allah (God knows): Reminiscent of his earlier hit "Nour El Ain", this track creates a Gypsy-Kings-like danceable ambience. A great album opener! 10/10 2. Tamalli Maak (Always with you): The title track and the first ballad of the album. This is a song that grows on you the more you listen to it. Definitely a hit! 10/10 3. Keda Eyni Eynak (So bluntly): A typical Amr Diab's song. Catchy tune, light and always fun to listen to. 9/10 4. Wu He Amla Eh (What is she doing now?): Another Amr Diab's light track. 9/10 5. Seneen (Years): This has got to be my favorite track in this album. Very cheerful and effervescent, the song's rhythm and melody makes you dance in your seat. The guitar will resonate in your soul. 10/10 6. Aamel Eh (What shall I do?): Very catchy seemingly-folkloric tune! I really like the ethereal, faint vocals echoing in the background echoing his words. Not as good as the previous tracks, though, for that it sounds pretty dated. 8/10 7. Law Kan Yerdheek: (If it pleases you): Sounds like a track from one of his older albums. Great song, though. 8/10. 8. Baatarif (I confess): This is such a heartfelt and very touchy ballad. The tempo is slow and soothing. Definitely a romantic song expressing love and yearning through beautifully arranged vocals and strings. 10/10 9. Albi Ikhtarak (My heart chose you): Very similar to Marc Anthony's "I Need to Know" rhythm-wise. Amr manages the high pitches very well. The use of the guitar gives the song a really cool edge. 9/10 10. Saaban Alayya: This is a somber yet promising track. I personally love it. 10/10 The album also comes with an insert that includes several pictures of Amr Diab and the lyrics in both Arabic and English. The quality of the recording is superb. TAMALLY MAAK makes a wonderful gift or a valuable addition to an eclectic music library. It's that good!

This album was suggested to me by a dear friend. I trusted him, and hey, I like it. The first song really has you going--arabic pop is very similar to latino pop... So, despite listening to arabic music, I felt like dancing the salsa to the entire album. Some songs are a little slow... And Amr's lyrics are definitely sentimental. If you want to compare him to someone else, I would have to go with the Turkish Tarkan.

Don't understand a word this guy sings, which goes to show music reaches everyone, no matter what language. I have actually learned the lyrics and sing along Amr. Arabic music with a pop twist is very powerful. His work is getting better in every album. I recommend this cd and his previous Amarien.

Great voice, great songs,

Tamally Maak is such a hot song, it has been ripped off by both Pakistani and Indian singers. A rip off version was even featured in the Indian movie "Murder". We all know that Amr Diab is the original and his music never bores the listener. Even if you don't know Arabic, you will enjoy his songs.

Amr Diab's voice is magical! There is something about it and the way he projects it, that even if you do not understand the language, you can still feel him and what he conveys when he sings.Amr Diab is my favorite Arab singer!!! I came across his music a few years back, almost by accident. One day, while surfing the Internet looking for Arabic music, I found a link for this handsome artist. I listened to one of his songs at a site and decided right away to buy his latest CD at that time, Tamally Ma3ak (Always With You). After listening to the CD in its entirety, I was hooked! I then ordered his previous recordings, Amarain and Awedony. I invite you to be receptive and listen with an open mind and open heart and I assure you that you will feel what I've felt each and every time I listen to this unique and wonderful voice... I stumbled upon this disc by accident and what an amazing find! Amr Diab's soaring voice coupled with the consistently infectious dance beat of this disc, make it a must have for all fans and a great introduction to his music for those who are new to the scene--like me. This disc is superbly produced and delivers a delicious mix of the exotic with a keen sense of what makes a pop record really POP. Take a break from the painfully average and ordinary and buy this disc!

Fantastic,

This album is a magnificent selection of songs only Amr Diab could sing. The beginning with the rhytm of "El 'Alem Alah" ("God Knows"), followed by the melodious "Tamaly Ma'ak" ("Always With You"), the salsa-like "Alby Ekhtarak" ("My Heart Choose YoU"), and my favourite "We Heya Amla Eh Delwat" ("How is she doing"). 10 great songs and I think everyone who loves arab music or want to know something about modern styles in arabic music, this is a must.

Tamaly Maak - a musical revelation,
By Nael (Muharaq, -- Bahrain) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Tamally Maak (Audio CD)
This is the best music that Amro Diab has produced over his career. A mix of musical styles, including spanish guitars, traditional arabic tunes and a touch of Santana is sure to suit various musical tastes. Tamaly Ma'ak is probably Amro's most interesting offering; a new musical style, slower beat than what we are used to and a much deeper set of lyrics. Personally, this CD rates very highly on my list and is very highly recommended for the new listener as well as the Amro Diab Die-hards.
