This review is from: Tamerlane, the earth shaker, (A star book) (Hardcover)
This is an excellant story of Amir Timur Barlas, the man who almost conquered as much land as the great Genghis Khan. Harold Lamb is a master story teller, and this book contains not only the story of Tamerlane, which is a slur on Timur-the-lame, for he walked with a limp due to an old wound, but the book also tells of the history of Central Asia, and is filled with a list of great and useful resourses. This book started me on a quest to write my own story on Tamerlane which is based on Petis de la Croix's version of Sherif ad-Dins work:"The History of Timur-Bek..." which I call: "The Campaigns of Tamerlane." It is the second book of Harold Lambs collection that I treasure. I also have an autograph copy.
