The Taming of Corky by Dr. Jane Nixon White, is an excellent book. It is set in Florida and is about a woman teacher named Jan. She feels that she has no time for herself. She decides that she needs more time for herself so she resigns before the next school year. She and her husband Bert move into rural land where Jan can't wait to explore3. As soon as her husband goes to work, she explores the woods and sees something! A little boy! He runs away and the next day she put an extra lunch on a rock near where she saw the boy run from the day before. To find out what happens to the boy, Jan, Bert, and the lunch, read this awesome story! If you like to read about real life situations then this is the perfect book for you! It is sad but turns out to be happy at the end.In the beginning, it may seem boring but after you will see what a great book this is!I hope that everyone who reads this book review will read this book. Personally, I know Dr. Jane Nixon White and her capability to write well. I don't want to be pushy but please read this amazing, adventurous book!

Having recently finished The Taming of Corky, I was glad to suggest it to my students. Jane Nixon White has created a tender story of a young boy and the family who cares for him. It is a must read for anyone who wants to see the true meaning of the word family. Jane Nixon White captures it well. Good stuff, I say!

This wonderful suspenseful book is great for the kids to read from a wonderful teacher. She has always had a love for her students and now since she is not teaching she is showing it in her writings. Keep up the great work.

The Taming of Corky is a wonderful book filled with suspense!!!
I have read this book and love I loved it! I'm in a reading club at my school and everyone in the club read it! It's such a great and spectacular book! All I have to say is that you have to read it!!!!!!!!!!!! Read it Read it Read it Read it!!!!!!!!

This was such a good book. It's really informative and teaches you about life. It's sad but turns out happy at the end. This book shows that just because someone is disabled, they can still become well. With a lot of time, you can make a person feel new again. In this book, Jan proved that. Read this book to find out what happens next in this amazing book.

The Taming of Corky was a really suspenseful story.Once you start reading it you can't stop till you finish the book. When you read it you feel like it is really true, and should come alive. Jan wanted a baby so much that she kept trying to "tame" Corky. When she finally "tames" him she feels like a dream has come true. She hopes that Corky has no relatives, so they can keep him. Read the book to find out if Corky has relatives or not.READ...READ!

The Taming of Corky is a terrific book! it shows the passion and love for childeren that the main character, Jan has. Jan is very determined. this book is great if you love suspense. This book is definitly a "page turner" ! Read it, Read it, Read it!!!!

I am the author of The Taming of Corky, and greatly question the age suggestion for readers (6-8). It would take a very precocious 10 year old to understand my book. I would recommend my book for middle school and up, multiple ages, all the way to adult. I think the confusion began when reviewers realized that the main character, Corky, was nine years old, and assumed that the audience for the book should be closely aged to Corky. Perhaps the reviewers didn't actually read the book... I don't know. Hopefully readers will figure out that my book's audience should be wider.
