5.0 out of 5 stars Jumping off the Plateau, October 18, 2000

This review is from: Taming the Diet Dragon: Language & Imagery for Weight Control and Body Transformation (Llewellyn's Self-Empowerment) (Paperback)
For all of us who have struggled with weight loss, this book is a must read. We've all experienced that point in our efforts where we hit a plateau and can't drop any weight no matter how hard we exercise and watch what we eat. Dr. Kirk's book has some very good creative imagery techniques that will help you get off those plateaus and back on the track with weight loss. This is not a "diet" book in terms of conventional diet plans. It is a way to help you look at why you eat the way you do and get you to look at food in new and healthy ways. The techniques in this book not only work for weight loss, they work for other behaviors you might wish to change. A friend told me that several of her other friends used this book to help them stop smoking!

A quick read, and a pleasant one. No abstruse concept, all is there, simply explained and easy to experiment with.
Mental tricks to make your diet (not one in specific, you won't find dietary advice here) easy and pleasant to follow, to stop the craving and the feeling of deprivation. You will enjoy dieting!
you surely don't believe. Neither did I. The fact is... it works, right from the start. I'm the first to be amazed!

This review is from: Taming the Diet Dragon: Language & Imagery for Weight Control and Body Transformation (Llewellyn's Self-Empowerment) (Paperback)
I got this book when it came out in '92 and I have a much loved and dog eared copy. It spells out everything you need to know to get the right "mindset" and thinking patterns to lose weight without the constant horrible struggle.

But one must APPLY it everyday, use it for it to work!
