About the Author

Bob Oliver practiced medicine from 1958 until 2001, 95% of that time was in obstetrics. The balance was as a psychotherapist and sex therapist. Doctor Oliver received his MD degree for the University of Colorado School of Medicine in 1958, completed an internship in Jackson, Mississippi. Understudied Harold Kohl, MD in Tucson for 3 years in internal medicine and completed a specialty training in Obstetrics and Gynecology in 1963. From 1964 to 1981 Doctor Oliver continued his work with women in childbirth. Noting the need for a deeper understanding of women's sexuality, Dr. Oliver completed a PhD in Human Sexuality and Gestalt psychology. Dr. Oliver was founder and president IAME in 1973 coordinating many internationally known trainers and therapists in presentation seminars. In 1981, Dr. Oliver was called to America Samoa as Chief of their Obstetrical Service. He was recruited to Family Health Plan, Guam, as director of Obstetric and Gynecology Services. Retiring from Guam, Dr. Oliver worked two years in Maui, Hawaii doing advanced psychotherapy and sexual therapy for sex offenders. He was joined The Gift of Life, Montgomery, Alabama as director of their High Risk Obstetrical Service for the indigent of that city. A teaching assignment for the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill moved him to Asheville as associate professor of Ob/Gyn. Bob opened a practice in a small town in Western North Carolina from which he retired in 2001.
