This review is from: Tamiya 1/35 US M48A3 Patton Tank (Toy)
Here is an older Tamiya kit that is pretty accurate in details. This kit is from the early 1980's when Tamiya started to create quality model kits by doing research on the subject matter. Detail is very good but the hull still has the holes and mounts for the little motor that Tamiya used to include with their earlier kits. No motor comes with the kit. You get 2 crew figures: driver and commander. Hatches can be posed open/closed. About 150-175 parts. Numerous other accessories for dioramas. Rubber band style track shoes with good detail on both sides. The track shoes can be painted and does hold paint well. Decals are good and include versions for the U.S. Army and Marines. I chose the Marines because it was something different. There is also a search light included to mount on top of the main gun. Clear plastic window is included for the search light. String is provided for the tow cables. Instructions sheet is easy to follow and includes a brief history on U.S. Medium tanks. I recently bought this kit again in order to create a German army version like what you see in the movie "Patton". Modern U.S. tanks were used as German tanks in a lot of war movies; just throw some gray or dark yellow paint on them and add German markings and who would know the difference?. Think this kit looks better in German army movie markings than U.S. Marines markings. Good kit for youngsters that have a little modeling skills under their belt - should not be too intimidating. Yes, you must put this kit together - NO glue or paints included. Pretty good price considering that Tamiya and hobby shops are raising the prices on a lot of those old 1970's - 1980's kits.

This review is from: Tamiya 1/35 US M48A3 Patton Tank (Toy)
This offering by Revell is a re-release of an old Monogram model. It depicts a US M48A2 Patton tank in 1/35 scale. The model is very inexpensive by today's prices. It is a fairly simple, straight-forward model to build, a fun kit for an adult and older pre-teen/teen to work on together. Only drawback is the two piece lower hull, which will require some care to assemble. Several soldiers are included and the kit can be built as part of a diorama.
