Exquisitely detailed 1/350 scale assembly model kit of the World War II Sen Toku I-400-class submarine of the Imperial Japanese Navy. I-400 class submarines were the largest submersible ships built in the Second World War, and was capable of round-trip patrol to any part of the world from Japan. Developed as an aircraft carrying submarine, the I-400 Class was one of the most unique submarine designs ever to entered operational service. I-400 class can carry up to three Aichi M6A Seiran float planes in its internal hangar bay, and during combat missions, a crew of four can launch all three aircrafts within 45 minutes. Eighteen I-400 submarines were planned, but only three were ever completed before the end of World War II and none of the I-400 Class submarines ever saw combat action. This beautifully detailed 1/350 scale model kit features: Accurately reproduced hull features two-piece construction with upper and lower hull sections. Hangar hatch may be modeled in both open and closed positions for increased display possibilities. Details such as crane arm and antenna array realistically depicted with precision-made photo-etched parts. Metal parts for propeller screw shafts provide additional detail. Parts are included to allow depiction of the Seiran aircraft with wings in both extended and folded positions. Photo-etched parts are used for aircraft propellers and dollies. Special display base with nameplate included.
