Highly detailed 1/700 scale model kit of the Battleship USS Iowa (BB-61). As the lead ship of the Iowa class of battleship, the USS Iowa is notable for being the only ship of the class to have served a combat tour in the Atlantic Ocean during World War II, in which she served as a countermeasure against the German battleship Tirpitz. In April 1989 an explosion of undetermined origin destroyed her #2 gun turret, killing 47 sailors, and in 1990, the USS Iowa was decommissioned for the last time. She is now awaiting donation to a not-for-profit entity for use as a museum ship. This model kit features the battleship Iowa as she appeared during the Marianas Campaign in 1944, 2-piece hull, rotating main turret, full color painting guide, and 1/700 scale Vought OS2U Kingfisher floatplanes.
