This review is from: Tamiya 1/350 U.S. Battleship Missouri BB-63 (Toy)
This is a very detailed model at a good price. Found the same model in a local hobby shop for almost twice as much. The parts all fit well together and there were no problems with warped or damaged pieces. Instruction manual was also well written and easy to follow. It is slightly more challenging to complete with some very small parts but that adds to the detail. I also used the recommended Tamiya paint and it came out great. NOTE-Be very careful with the machine gun enplacement parts, they are very small and can break if taken out without care. I broke one the first time taking it out but luckily you have a few extra in the kit. Shipping was fast and the seller sent tracking info quickly.

Typical excellent Tamiya quality,
This review is from: Tamiya 1/350 U.S. Battleship Missouri BB-63 (Toy)
This will be my third Tamiya battleship (already completed the Tirpitz and Yamato) and I'm really looking forward to this one. Sifted through the pieces and is exactly what I've come to expect from Tamiya. The only reason they only get four stars is because they don't come with any photo-etched parts. Throwing in some White Enseign Models or Gold Medal Models PE definitely makes this a 5+. This kit is getting harder and harder to find, so grab it while you can!

Having enjoyed assembling ship models since 1953 and seeing much change in the industry in those years, I can only say that This model ship is one of the best created. In recent years 1/350 scale ships have increased in the model market and there are now several excellent ships available by Tamiya and Trumpet among others. The "mighty Mo" is just one of several models produced by this Japanese model maker and even though it was created in the 1970's still is one of the best models in this scale. They also make the Bismark, King George V., and Yamato, and other ships of the same class but different names in this scale 1/350. One note for the model maker, these models are not really for kids under 10 years of age and it is not really a toy but rather a serious model involving much skill and time. However the amount of detail and design will reward the model maker with a excellent example of this class of ship. I might add that with prices being what they are these days, it is still an excellent buy. Remember, I'm coming from a time when model ships were only $2.00 or $3.00 each and well within my weekly allowance budget as a kid then. So if you have an interest in things Naval, this is one way to upscale your collection with a bit of World War II history. Availability and cost will only increase in time.
