3.0 out of 5 stars Talented vocalist with powerful voice trapped in Nashville
There's no missing the power and control of Cochran's voice. The soaring notes and power ballads provide Cochran the fuel to emulate Martina McBride, both in reaching great heights of emotional expression, and in over-singing unmemorable songs. Like McBride, who scored major artistic success in applying her blowtorch of a voice to Gretchen Peters' "Independence...

When I hear that Tammy dedicated this song to 2 little boys that had passed away due to cystic fibrosis, I just had to listen to it. I must confess that I'm not much of a country fan, but this song has a place in my life now. I had never heard of this illness, up until my (now) 2 year old niece, Jasmine, was born with this affliction, and she holds my heart in her hands. When Tammy sings the lyrics, "they always knew they'd never grow old...", it's because the life span for those who are born with this, isn't as long as it should be. Some live such a short life, they barely have time to make a few memories to take with them. Lucky ones get past the age of 10, mabey 20, but not many enjoy life past 35 years of age. They have yet to find a cure for it. Tears come to my eyes now everytime that I listen to those words, and I long to give my life for my niece's. Though she's here with us now, it's a horrible feeling I get everytime I hold her, like she's already been taken from me. Thank you Tammy, for bringing this disease out in the open for so many, and thank you for giving me a song to sing to my niece, with all my heart...

I am SO excited to see this CD available to the general public! I was privliged to hear this music in advance when I attended a showcase, featuring Tammy, late last year. I got a promo CD and played it over and over. Good thing it was a CD, if it were a Cassette , or on vinyl, I would have worn it out three times over! I bought the CD just to make sure I wasn't missing out on any new songs! I love every song on this Disc. To me it's about courage, and finding yourself and realizing that life's lessons, no matter how painful, are still lessons and we should learn from them. With each listen I like the CD even more. Have you ever stood in front of your CD collection, scratched your head and thought " what do I want to listen to?" Every time I can't decide, I inevitably reach for this CD. Trust me friends, you will too! With each listen I can't help but admire Tammy's amazing voice. It's so powerful, yet so tender and emotional at the same time. She wraps her voice around the lyrics and meoldy so beautifully. Favorite cuts on the disc are "Better off Broken", "If You Can" and the beautiful "Angels in Waiting". Why are you still reading this review? Pop this disc into your shopping cart now so you can enjoy it!! Tammy, congratulations on a great CD, and thanks for sharing your talent with us!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great writing + powerful voice = stellar debut, January 4, 2003
This review is from: Tammy Cochran (Audio CD)

I bought Tammy Cochran's first CD after hearing her heart-tugging single "Angels in Waiting". The song was written about her two brothers who were taken by Cystic Fibrosis. She co-wrote the song and wears her emotions on her sleeve. It is inspiring - my eyes tear up every time I hear it on the radio.

The rest of the CD does not disappoint, it is just as powerful. Big name writers abound - Roxie Dean and Jamie O'Neal ("So What"); Sherrie Austin ("Going, Going Gone") and Lisa Brokop ("Better Off Broken") - and Tammy also co-wrote 2 of the 10 songs. Her voice is BIG without being overpowering on "If You Can", a steel-guitar heavy song about making a tough choice. "So What" is about leaving 'Mr. Wrong' behind, and being better for it. "What I Learned From Loving You" is a ballad with a bit of a blues-vibe to it. "When Love Was Enough" is about when you are with the one you love and material things and money don't matter. My favorite songs - "Better Off Broken" and "I Cry" - are both upbeat songs about getting over someone, little by little.

I am shocked Tammy Cochran is not more popular already, but I think her star is definitely on the rise! Faith and Shania should try to be more like her

4.0 out of 5 stars One of my fave CD's by one of my fave vocalists!, June 4, 2001

This review is from: Tammy Cochran (Audio CD)
Tammy Cochran may not have won the new female vocalist of the year award, but this Ohio singer really can carry a tune! Tammy Cochran's debut album features two singles, "If You Can" and "So What", and also the new hit, "Angels In Waiting". I am going to write a track evaluation for all you buyers out there. 1. "I Cry": This is a catchy song and a great beginning to the album. It is about a person who hasn't really gotten over their lost love. (5/5) 2. "If You Can": This is one of the hits from the album. The video for this song was the first time I ever saw or heard Tammy. As for the song, it's a pretty good one, but too much of a crooner, I think. (4/5) 3. "So What": This sassy song was co-written by another great country vocalist, Jamie O'Neal. This song is a great tune and one of my personal favorites on the album. (5/5) 4. "What I Learned From Loving You" This is a slow song about what a person learned from loving another. I like it. (4/5) 5. "That Ain't Right": This song is a great song with a good message. I think it is one of the better cuts on the album. (5/5) 4. "Say Goodbye": This is, in my "humble" opinion, the best song on the whole album! It is a beautiful song that really shows how much talent and potential Tammy has! This song probably deserves more than what I am giving it. (5/5) 7. "When Love Was Enough": This song is okay, but probably my least favorite on the album. That doesn't mean I still don't sing along with it, though! 8. "Going, Going, Gone": This song was written by Sherrie Austin, another great country vocalist, and is on her CD, "Followin' A Feelin'". I think it is a great song and would really like to hear Sherrie's version, although it would have to be pretty good to beat Tammy's. (5/5) 9. "Better Off Broken": This song is about a heart that is better off broken than in a relationship. I like it alot. (5/5) 10. "Angels In Waiting" Tammy co-wrote two songs on the album, this lovely tune and track 7. This song is kind of a personal memoir, but I think you can also relate to it. I would have to say this song is what pushed me to buy the album. (5/5) So in ending my review, all I am going to say is Tammy has a great voice and is likely to go places in the music business. I would have given the album five stars, but for some reason I don't think I should. I bet Tammy's next album will be even better, and I await the day it comes out. When it does, I'm sure I'll be reveiwing it, too. As far as this album goes, if you like good country music and have any taste at all, you should like it.

5.0 out of 5 stars FANTASTIC!!!, July 14, 2001
By A Customer
This review is from: Tammy Cochran (Audio CD)
I purchased 3 of these C.D.'s when they came out, one for me at home, one for the car and another for my mother-in-law. Out of all my collection of C.D's, this is my very favorite. And I do play it all the time! The songs are all awesome, if I had to pick a favorite, it would be "Angels in Waiting." Each and every song on this c.d are songs all of us can relate to, one way or another. Tammy has a beautiful voice, sings with emotion, something alot of the singers today do not know how to do. Tammy is one of the best in country music today, and I predict she will go far! Love the C.D.,I recommend it!

This is a very impressive debut. I bought this CD for the hit song "Angels is Waiting" but when I listen now, I listen to the whole CD all the way through. It's that good. Tammy has a great country voice and that, combined with great lyrics, makes for an emotionally strong CD. Great music!
