This 1986 live concert was filmed at the Capitol Music Hall in Wheeling, West Virginia, and shows a mature Tammy, in her early forties, with attractive cropped hair, reed thin in an elegant strapless gown; half-way through, she discards the skirt portion, to reveal sequined pants, and looks simply stunning. She intersperses the music with anecdotes of her life, little verbal "snapshots" that are quite moving, like the story of the first time she went to Nashville looking for work, in 1965, with 3 small children in tow.
Wynette does not have a large voice, but is a supreme country stylist. There is a subtle sadness and vulnerability to her persona, and a delicate beauty, which also add to her appeal.

The musicians. Tammy is backed by an excellent band, and they are: Rick Murrell, bass and vocals; David Sloas, guitar and banjo; Mike Douchette, steel guitar and harmonica; Charlie Carter, rhythm guitar; Steve Samuels, keyboard; Ken Janson, drums; and Sue Richards and Paula Murrell, vocals.
This is straight concert footage, with no fancy camera angles and no endless cuts to the audience as in some live films; it is an hour long, and though the appreciation of this concert will be limited to Tammy's fans, they will love it, and it is a nice way to remember this great country legend, who took leave of this earth plane in 1998.

I HAVE BEEN A FAN OF TAMMY WYNETTE FOREVER. I HAVE SEEN HER MANY TIMES IN CONCERT FROM SEVEN SEAS, WAY BACK WHEN, TO BILLY BOB'S TEXAS IN FT. WORTH, AND GRANNY'S DINNER PLAYHOUSE IN DALLAS, TX. I SAT ON THE FRONT SEAT AT GRANNY'S! SHE ALWAYS HAS PUT ON A GREAT CONCERT. I AM SO GLAD I BOUGHT THIS DVD. I HAVE ALL HER ALBUMS, TAPES AND CD'S AND THIS IS A GREAT COMPLIMENT TO THOSE. IT IS A GREAT BUY, AND THE PRICE WAS VERY REASONABLE. FOR ANY TRUE FAN, THIS IS A MUST HAVE ITEM!

if your a true tammy fan,you wont regret buying this concert,a true "concert" dvd, (not a documentary), just a great concert show of songs. video and audio are great!

This concert although held nineteen years ago is a must have for any of her loyal fans. The video quality (almost 8 track quality) is not up to todays standards by any means but it is no doubt the best that was available for 1986. The audio also lacks brightness and suffers from the "hiss" that was so commonly accepted back then.
Other than that, this beautiful ~~Lady~~ presents herself as graceful as any Queen on this planet. The sharp soulful cry in Tammys ballads still makes you feel the pain in her songs. I followed her career right from the beginning and morned her much too early passing like everyone else. This lovely "Southern Belle" radiates pure class. She very innocently captivates the audience throught every number. This DVD is definetly a keeper for me. I would suggest that you buy it while its available.

This live concert was taped in 1986 in Wheeling, West Virginia. Tammy Wynette sings all her favorites in best form and she is supported by an excellent band. The recorded concert lasts for one very enjoyable hour. This concert is a must have for Tammy Wynette fans.

This concert really shows us the reason she is queen of country. I just love it.

I've been a big fan of Tammy Wynette for most of my life. I could sing you (poorly) nearly every hit she ever had, phrase by phrase. I paid nearly $40 for this (used not new) DVD and I am truly disappointed. This was a total "formula" concert; no feeling, no passion, no heart. The songs are churned out in rapid succession as if this was a highlights reel, some just brief snipets of the actual song. She looks gorgeous and this DVD will appeal to many. I mean, it IS Tammy Wynette. But this is not the Tammy I wanted to see or was willing to shell out so much money for. Instead, you can spend a 4th as much money and get the real Tammy Wynette, graceful, honest, true, singing great individual performances in the 60's and 70's on "Tammy Wynette Legendary Performances" (also available here on Amazon).

THERE WILL NEVER BE ANOTHER FIRST LADY OF COUNTRY MUSIC, NO ONE WILL EVER TOP TAMMY WYNETTE. THIS DVD IS FULL OF CHERISHED SONGS AND MEMORIES. LIKE TAMMY, ITS PRICELESS!

I was very excited at the thought of owning this DVD and seeing Tammy in concert for the very first time. I live in Barbados, in the Caribbean, but I cut my teeth while growing up, on Tammy Wynette & George Jones, Loretta Lynn & Conway Twitty and Charlie Pride among others. However, I was somewhat disappointed at her seemingly lacklustre performance. Her voice is still sensational but she lacked dynamism on stage. Still, it's a good buy for those who just want to hear the First Lady of Country & Western sing.
