As I have stated before in my review of the soundtrack to "Walk The Line", I am not a fan of country music. But once again a movie has made me take a detour into that territory. Tammy Wynette's "Stand By Your Man" is played during the opening credits of the film "Five Easy Pieces", and other Tammy songs are featured in the film. After seeing it a couple of times, I couldn't get her music out of my head, so I bought this CD. I have to admit that I like every song to some degree, and I attribute this to Tammy's vocal skills. She takes you into her world of love and heartbreak in and out of apartments and barrooms, and makes you see it and feel it. I especially like "D-I-V-O-R-C-E", with its clever use of spelled-out words, which Tammy handles superbly. I also want to mention the excellent harmony she contributes in the duet with David Houston, "My Elusive Dreams". Tammy makes all of this sound so easy, and I'm sure it isn't. If it was, we'd have 100 Tammy Wynettes, but, nope, there is only one.

I grew up listening to tammy and other female artist, love her music. It's a shame she passed away, but we can still hear her music.I would recommend her greatest hits to anyone who love's her old hit's.

It would out sell any other album ever released by a female vocalist in country music and would go on to become the first to pass the one million sales mark. This album is the utlimate Tammy Wynette collection. Eleven tracks of pure musical delight! This album should come with a warning, though! Once you have listened to this one, you will not be able to stop. The sound of Tammy Wynette will be in your mind forever!

tammy is was and always will be one of the top 5 female country singers ever

This is a classic album to have in your collection of country music. It's the only Tammy Wynette album you'll need. She's no pushover. She's not saying to "stand by your man" cause it's what you have to do cause you're a woman. She's saying he's a weak and maybe stupid, "after all He's just a man" and if you want to it would be a nice thing.
