well-researched, if a bit dry,
By Steve (Tampa, Florida USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Tampa in Civil War & Reconstruction (Hardcover)
I'm very interested in the history of my hometown, so I found this extremely well-researched window into a previously unknown corner of Tampa's past to be fascinating. I never knew about many of the events included, and the picture of a small community struggling with economic ruin amid the Civil War and its aftermath will be informative to students of American history in general.Onthe negative side, the book may be too slow and too detailed for the casual reader. Also, I'm assuming that the author has another volume in the works since the narrative just stops. |
