I just got this backpack and I absolutely love it. It is a great combination of a backpack and camera bag - with just enough space in each. The top compartment holds quite a bit, I used this section as my "purse." The camera area is well padded - my camera and zoom lens fit perfectly. Three pockets surround the bottom half - great for film and smaller supplies. It fits nicely on my back and comes with a waist strap (that tucks in a pocket so it doesn't get in your way) and another strap across the chest to keep the pack secure against your back.

I traveled all over Germany with this backpack and it was perfect. I always had my various photographic equipment close at hand and never missed a shot because I left something back at the hotel or in the car. And I was always able to pack extra batteries, film or lunch in the convenient storage compartment. It also protected my equipment very well during plane and bus traveling.

Room for 2 camcorders, a P@S (point and shoot), accessories and more in the pockets. Straps on back good for carrying tripod, or monopod.
I like this design over the other ones.
Def a recommend

After searching the internet, telephoning camera stores, and shopping at discount stores, I was very happy to receive an email that Amazon had a camera department. In just five minutes I had found the perfect camera backpack that I needed for a Christmas gift and in the price range I hoped to pay. Now I have decided that I am keeping the backpack because it is "just perfect" for my camera and equipment. It is exactly as described with room for everything. It is perfect for the amateur or professional when you need compartments for camera equipment and personal items. The same backpack is in catalogs and camera stores at a much higher cost. No one would be disappointed with this Tamrac backpack camera bag.

This backpack is the perfect size. It's large enough to hold the camera and several lenses, plus has many extra pockets and compartments for other things too. Right now I'm carrying a zoom lens, a 50mm lens, and the camera with the kit lens attached. I also pack plenty of cleaning supplies, filters, external flash, extra batteries and more. The top section (inside) is very roomy; this is where I store the contents of my purse so I'm not having to carry a purse AND camera bag. The lens compartments on the interior have nice thick padded walls to keep your equipment from banging together. I store my camera in the lens part with the attached lens facing down and the body of the camera laying on top of the compartments - this works great because it frees up the top for purse contents (wallet, sunglasses, makeup, sunblock, etc.). My cell phone sits in the mesh pocket which has elastic at the top - this way I can reach it quickly if I get a phone call, but the pocket is secure enough that I don't worry about my phone falling out. The backpack comes with straps to go around your waist, but I cut these off because I prefer to just sling it over one shoulder. The quality is supurb, very sturdy zippers and the fabric is thick and sewn well - this camera backpack was made to last. It's also a nice size - not a fullsize backpack but it's got plenty of room for all the essentials and has a nice compact design. If the bag were any larger it would not be as portable and would get heavy with the camera equipment. If it were any smaller there would not be enough room for lenses. I highly recommend this camera backpack, I just can't think of anything negative to say about it at all!

Review of the Tamrac 5342 Adventure 2 backpack camera bag.

Firstly I have to say we have been using Tamrac camera bags, both sling bags and backpacks since the early 80's.
In fact Tamrac is the only camera bag in that time.

We bought Canon G11 camera a year and a half ago and were using a small Tamrac sling bag but decided for comfort
and to have more room for our camera and accessories we would look for a Tamrac backpack camera bag.

On the web at amazon.com I found the absolutely perfect bag for our needs: the Tamrac 5242 Adventure 2. It is small
and light enough to be handy and comfortable. It accommodates everything we take with us on a shoot: camera, extra
batteries, flash unit, memory cards, cleaning kit, rain bag, filters.

And the build quality is as usual with a Tamrac bag: excellent. Also the backpack was an amazing bargain at only 25.00!!
We now take our camera with us almost everywhere we go thanks to our handy Tamrac 5242 Adventure 2 camera backpack.

Bought it for my dad as he had exactly same one and it just got work out by over years. He is very happy and picked this one after trying about 5 other newer bags. So 100% satisfaction.
