Great Form Factor...,
By
This review is from: Tamrac 574301 Velocity 3 Messenger Camera Bag (Black) (Electronics)
I've had this bag for about a year. I love the messenger bag form factor and the wide strap. It's really inconspicuous when walking around Manhattan. There's plenty of room. Enough room that I have packed up to three bodies (D70, FM3A, and a canonet rangefinder), 3 lenses (one attached to one of the bodies), a large speedlight (nikon sb-24), and I still have room to carry a book or two as well as several rolls of film. Of course I never carry that much on a normal day out, but I can fit it all if necessary.
Few complaints. I don't necessarily like the large "tamrac" logo on front. I cover it with black gaff tape. Then again, I guess not everyone knows the tamrac brand. The "weather guards" are nothing more than two inch foam tabs that fold over at the edge of the main compartment, hardly does much. My major complaint is that there is nothing to secure the contents in the main compartment (especially the primary camera body that's on top). Only way to secure the contents of your bag is to secure the main flap with the buckle. I don't always remember to secure the flap especially when I'm reaching into my bag often, and had one of my bodies tumble out onto the driveway when I tipped the bag. Luckily the manual nikon bodies are built like tanks. Otherwise, I've enjoyed the bag a lot since I've gotten it and the price is good too!

I have a Nikon D70, an extra lens, a Nikon 650 Flash unit and a few cords, manuals, batteries, tripod attachments, etc. The Tamrac Velocity 3 Messenger bag is a perfect fit for my equipment. I love the placement of the camera in the bag which allows for quick and easy access as well as a fast and safe return back to the bag. While the bag is much bigger than what I had before, I now only have one bag instead of three and all of my equipment is with me at all times. Two thumbs up!

Perfect Camera bag,

This is the perfect camera bag. I have been searching for quite awhile for a bag that would fit my needs. Whether I'm traveling or just taking my camera for some quick pictures, I like to have my camera, an extra lens, and my personal belongings I would normally carry in my purse, all in one bag. However, it has been very difficult to find a bag that fits all of this without being too bulky or uncomfortable to carry. This bag gives me plenty of room for all of my equiptment plus personal belongings without making me feel like I am lugging around an entire suitcase. The different sizes it comes in makes it perfect for everyone!

This bag is really comfortable to carry around on my shoulder. Holds a D50 with kit lens, SB800 speedlight, 3 additional lenses and misc. smaller items. The size and dimensions are perfect.
My only complaint is that the top flap is not padded at all, so the camera body is not protected from impact from the top. The only quick solution would be to bury the camera in the bottom, but that would make it a pain to access. I'll probably end up adhering some foam to the inside flap to protect my camera. I'll keep this bag because its comfort and design outweigh the inconvenience of having to modify it, but I would probably consider other bags first if I were to ever go shopping for another one.

I think there are a couple of real nice features on this bag that I haven't found on some others in it's size. One, the zippered compartment in the front is very large, big enough to hold a SB600/SB800 flash, a wallet and misc accessories like batters, filters, etc. The other is that it's a little taller than some others so you can put your longer lens on (not super long, but the 70-300 works) and have room at the top for your strap. It also has areas to put add ons, like on the strap, there is a place to add a card holder.
The blue shown here isn't true to color, it's more of a deep royal blue, almost navy blue. I agree with pp about the top not being padded - seems odd to me. They could also improve it with a carrying handle on the top as well. The strap is not padded but you can separate one side of if from the case to add one if you needed it. Overall, I really like it. It's comfortable, fits more than the Crumpler in the same size range and is a good price. I really like the Tamrac products, adding this to the list.

I just bought this bag. I was worried it would be too small but it turns out it's perfect. I fit a Nikon D50 with the 55mm lens on it with a zoom lens tucked on one side and a SB600 flash unit on the other side. What's great about the bag is it's unobtrusive size, it's very comfortable to carry. I only gave it four stars because nothing is five stars.
